Actually in secret Avengers it turned out that a Congressman or senator(cant remember which) whom was friends with beast was a low grade reality warping mutant.(low grade as far as reality warpers go considering he didn't just solve the entire issue or have the creativity to instakill everything Nazi) He basically brought the Lincoln memorial to life, had it smash Nazis and used to opposed mutant oppressing legislation. Thanks to his position of power he was able to get the tech to mask his mutancy from the world.

"Lincoln Memorial beats up Nazis" is one of the most awesome sentences ever. There's only one thing that can make it better, and that's adding dinosaurs.

That sounds like both Cap and Cyc.

I tire of super heroes being involved with the government. I tire of registration and anti-mutant this and that. How about a MU where super heroes fight super villains and the government is in the background? Not lead by, nor chasing, heroes and super powered non-villains.

I remember seeing a shadowy government group talking to Cap about the mutants and Cap saying, "We'll handle this". I hope those guys (shadowy) don't show up and do something stupid.

Yes, but they don't really have that much of an option. If the Avengers want to operate effectively they have to be able to work with the US government. Riddled with conspiracies and rotten to the core as it may be it would be a lot harder to handle and alien invasion if the government didn't work with them.

Well, maybe its the mutants' fault for not voting or taking a more active role in politics. Maybe its just hackneyed writing that mutants can't have other interesting stories without this persecution issue. I've said it before and I'll say it again: mutants do just fine when they're in the Avengers or other non X-specific titles. Maybe they need to stop banding together as X-Men or X-Force or X-Emos and so on and just sign up with the Avengers or anybody else that will have them... because it seems like mutant villains that are specific to non-mutant heroes seem to get more respect.

Convert them all to Avengers. Have the Utopia Avengers and Westchester Avengers.

I think that the ZX-mens answer to that would be if they were feelingp olite a raised middle finger and a hearty group F_U. They have no interest in working for the Avengers employer
