Read the end of the mini-series it shows Huntress meeting up with Powergirl. The Huntress in the miniseries is Wayne not Bertinelli. Heck the beginning of World's Finest (which takes place in Earth Prime) states that the Earth Prime Helena Bertinelli is dead. The Huntress miniseries was originally planned to be Bertinelli but it got changed to Wayne early in development.
No, it is really only the Kirby New Gods. Grant Morrison and Walter Simonson kinda introduce the idea of the New Gods as multiversal Ideas/Forms. I mean we saw that Hermes/Mercury are different on Earth-Prime and Earth-2 (heck Earth-2's pantheon is dead now)
It was essentially concretely stated in the first Justice League arc. When Superman was taken to Apokolips he saw multiple Earths being invaded and different versions of himself die. And as I stated above the idea is not entirely new.
Duh, I completely forgot about that scene with Superman.
I'm so grateful for the gods in Azzarello, it makes me sad to see them depicted here-- "Oh Diana, we are so grateful for YOU! We aren't worthy!" Yuck. What god would actually say that?
Double yuck for Diana's costume. What do those little curls sprouting from her tiara actually do? Protect her rouge?
This wasn't a bad story, but I probably won't buy the next issue.
A god who knew that not only he would probably perish, but that Diana probably would as well. What's yucky about the gods wanting to pass on their thanks and let Diana know before she died that she was appreciated and admired for her efforts?
I think that's a possible if not probable theory. I haven't read the mini myself though so I don't know, is there much in those first two issues (I think #3 is when the Wayne hinting started?) that really contradicted the reveal?
Ha, well there you have it then. I'm 0-2 here with the info. But no wonder people are still a bit confused. There's your answer though Zeeguy on why she didn't refer to Batman as her dad.

I guess the argument would be that technicaly Jay Garrick is Wonder Woman's legacy. He now gets his powers from one of her gods, and is now linked into her mythos. So yeah, Batman and Superman's legacy characters sorta **** up and wind up on the wrong Earth-2, while Diana's is one of the main heroes of the story.
That seems pretty good to me.
Steppenwolf - if memory serves - is supposed to be Darksied's master assassin, so attacking by surprise from behind is his thing. Superman got taken down by mere field troops so you could say he got the shorter straw.
Ultimately though I just didnt feel the need to buy it. I flicked through it and put it back on the shelf and spent my money on the latest Angel and Faith issue.

Irene Adler: “I would have you right here on this desk until you begged for mercy twice.”
Sherlock: “I’ve never begged for mercy in my life.”
Irene: “Twice.”
