Slightly off topic although im not sure it's it's enough to create an entire topic for:
Since the Gold team generally has legal guardianship over the kids shouldn't JGHS technically should count as a homeschool which means they'll be getting tests from the education board to see what they actually learned?
It's funny because it's true. My dad is a financial consultant with a background in accounting. His math ability stinks. I always joke about it and he always tells me that doing accounting isn't about math. Makes sense since few accountants would have to know more than statistics, with most relying on calculators or Excel to do the calculations for them.
I'm very much on the fence about buying this. I've been loving 'Lil Loki in Journey Into Mystery, but the last few New Mutant books I've read left me not wanting more. Should I pick this up?
Hardly. I think that it's a natural progression for the team and something they first attempted, in part, during their later X-Force days. And even if it is sudden, life sometimes hands you harsh wake up calls. Real life is like that. Real world character development is like that too. It's rare that the most important things in our lives happen so gradually. The things that change us most tend to be sudden. A family member dies. You lose your job and get evicted. You find out that you knocked up your girlfriend. Sharp and abrupt happens.
Yeah. Kid Loki's not a huge part yet, but they're doing their best about mixing the storylines. The Asgard stuff tends to be generally well handled in New Mutants, even if you're not a fan. If you intend on continuing with either JiM or NM then this issue is a must. You'll be lost for the next few issues otherwise.
Asgardian mythos doesn't do much for me, but on the whole this seems very promising. I am grateful for Kieron Gillen's input. My only worry is that what few interesting plot threads there were in New Mutants (Mephisto, Hel puppy, stalker, etc.) will all be tied up by the end of this, leaving us with only the flat premise of Dani and the X-Janitors. The art was a perfect fit, even if Dani's looking a little rough.

Could just be that DnA are leaving the book and are looking to close their stories out before #50. Marvel hasn't said if it's canceled or not, but I sense (at the very least) a change in direction coming up after the "Fear the Future" arc.
Was that the case? I always got the feeling that they paid tribute to her since she started the colony. They certainly owed a lot of their good fortune to her, but I'm not sure that it would've necessarily crumbled if she disappeared for 100 years.

You really never know. If the whole speculation of a New Mutants movie at FOX turns out to be true then I'm sure that Marvel is going to want to do whatever they can to increase the visibility of this title. I don't know who I'd like on it though. Wells was doing a good job, but I think that Marvel might want to go with a higher profile name. Kyle & Yost were clearly big fans of the original book when they worked on New X-Men, but I'm not sure if either of them would do it now. Personally, I'd like to see Aaron take over the writing duties. His work on WatX has been spectacular. I think that he'd have a ball with this team.
