How does IDW get away with 4-issue trades for 17.99?

Paid $18 for the first Fear Agent trade which was also only four issues. Dark Horse really isn't any better.

The first printing of that trade was 14.99. I think they upped the price as Remender started to become such a super-star.

Yeah, I love the series. Apparently vol. 4 has just gone out of print, but an omnibus has been promised for October. Pretty sure it's been delayed for three years now though, so who knows. It was optioned for a film three years ago also, hopefully it might still happen.

I was pissed when I first found this out with the TMNT TPB. Honestly, I'm just not gonna pay $4.50 an issue. That's just stupid. I'd rather buy the trades, but I'll stick to their floppies if they keep pricing TPBs like this.

To me, the higher-priced comics have always been justified for the same reasons mentioned above: higher quality paper and no ads interrupting the flow of the story. In fact, as most of the titles on my pull list are indies, whenever I do pick up a Marvel/DC book, I'm always startled when I'm suddenly confronted by an ad in the middle of the story. Higher price point aside, I'm spoiled by my usual stuff.
