    Default Ultimate Spider-man #10 Spoilers / Discussion.

It's more of the slow build slow burn Miles Morales fun! Review in rhyming couplets, because someone else did it the other day and it was ACES.

    SPOILERS!

Miles meets Uncle Aaron on a roof
    He says "I know you're spider-man, I don't need proof"
Miles is cautious, he doesn't trust his uncle
But Aaron pushes him and there's a minor rumble.

They chat a bit, and Aaron explains Norman Osborn
But we know he wants Miles as his crooked pawn.
He claims he's not so bad, he's actually okay
Miles should help him, he'll train him the right way.

He tells him of the Scorpion, and how he is so bad,
But Miles does not buy it, he's actually quite mad.
And as Mlles goes to leave, Aaron says wait.
I'll tell your father and he'll have your head on a plate!

So Miles is left with little choice about things,
he moans, then thinks, maybe the Ultimates he'll ring!
But then he thinks, no, they're too big, too mighty,
And so he realises he's in for a fighty.

He researches the scorpion, finds out he's a bad guy.
Ganke gets some lines (I wish he had more, oh my!)
And then uncle aaron sends a text message to him
Mile replies. Two words, I'm in.

Good issue. If buy now you're sick of how slow paced it is, I'm not sure why you're still reading, but the confrontation is nice, Aaron is as well crafted as Miles is. Left me wanting more. Can't believe Fury hasn't bugged Miles' costume though and has heard all of this.

    HOLY CRAP!

    I mean...

    Jeez!

Where the heck do I start!!?

David Marquez. David, freaking, Marquez! After last issue's rather disappointing showcase, Marquez kicks his own butt into gear and delivers a better looking issue then his entire Fantastic Four Season One work! Ponsor's colors only increase the amazing spectacle at work. The characters who make a flyby cameo have never looked so good! Such emotion, such detail, so much so that even the occasional blank backgrounds go unnoticed! Pichelli has found her official replacement!

Bendis once again proves why this is not just the best Ultimate Comic, but one of the best Marvel comics on the shelves. The conversation between Miles and Aaron remained incredibly tense throughout without losing an ounce of momentum. The amazement Miles feels from the cameo felt so genuine. The best moment of the issue though had to be when Miles was at dinner with his parents. After such a nail-biting opening Bendis delivers pitch-perfect comic relief and throws a curve-ball of an ending.

If you were wondering why this series is the only Ultimate Comic nominated for an Eisner you now how have your answer!

    Story: 10/10
    Writing: 10/10
    Art: 10/10
    Overall: 10/10

Conclusion: If you aren't enjoying this book, you may need to check to see if you have a pulse and if you aren't buying this book then what are you waiting for!!?
Anyone who doesn't like Miles Morales is a racist.

The art was beyond perfect. I couldn't help laughing to myself when Thor and Ironman were flying by. They were either A. Going to Tony's penthouse or B. They were stealing stuff from the Treskilion and hightailing it the Eff out of there. Either way it was a really good scene that was drawn beautifully. If any of the Ultimates are drawn again in UCSM it has to be drawn by David.

This issue in my opinion has to be one of the best if not the best Ultimate Spider-man issues since its started way back when.

I love Peter but Peter Parker could have never had an issue like this becuase of his family and this issue really set the two heroes appart. Aaron easily pulled the strings of Miles in this issue and it made of a great read. There may not have been too much action but what was show was amazing and backed up by Marquez and Ponser on art.

This issue was pretty much a conversation with only two characters but Bendis made it so interesting to read and showed Miles wants to do the right think but he is still scared of what his family will say or do and at this point to me it seems Miles fears his father more then anyone else.

I like how Aaron called Peter an idiot and I sure many of the people in NY think the same so it was pretty cool to hear a character say it. I am really looking foward to what Aaron and Miles do from this point on and how Aaron plans to fight Gargan.

Marquez is sensational in this book. I had never heard of him before FF Season One but now I think he's becoming one of my favourite artist. He and Pichelli are absolutely killing it! Hopefully he'll return for volumes 4, 6, 8 all the even numbered arcs so that him and Pichelli can rotate...continuously...forever...and ever and ever and ever. All other artists are not welcome.

I was hoping something actually happened this issue becase the last couple have been so decompressed. And holy crap nice work.

God it is amazing well Bendis can nail his street guys like Miles and miss so badly on the Avengers.

And this art work... holy. crap.

This book is just awesome. I think the people who hate it hate it just because PEter is dead, not because the book isn't quality.

As an individual issue, this was great. But as a continuation of this run, it's just becoming painfully slow. Ten issues in, and very little has still happened. The dialogue was fantastic throughout the whole issue, like the Bendis days of old. The characters didn't repeat themselves too much, saving the conversation from going in circles like it so often does in Bendis books. This was a confrontation I was really looking forward to, and it certainly delivered. However, I just wish that the story would move a little quicker.

The art was solid as well. I certainly had no problems with it, but it didn't amaze me either. There's nothing wrong with that, though. I just never stopped in the middle of the issue with my mind blown at any particular page. Esad Ribic, however, manages to drop my jaw at least once in every issue of Ultimates. The closest I got here was the birds-eye shot of Aaron jumping off the roof. But again, the art was still great, and I look forward to seeing more of David Marquez. However, I think Pichelli still has an edge on him. I still don't think her two-page fight between Peter, Black Cat, and Mysterio in USM #154 has been topped since then. However, this isn't about her - she'll be back for Spider-men.

I like where the story's going, if it ever gets there. Seeing Aaron and Miles team up should be interesting. It's also cool to know that Scorpion's name is Mac Gargan (well, Maximus). Hopefully it picks up next issue. One thing I'm really curious to find out more about is what Uncle Aaron WAS stealing from Oscorp.

So while this was a good talk-heavy issue, there have been better ones in Bendis's USM run. Issues #13, #39, and #111 all did, in my opinion, a better job at balancing story-importance with dialogue. I feel like this conversation could have happened much quicker to free up more space for the rest of the story's events. Finally, the ending kind of annoyed me. It was sort of clever last issue, but it didn't work a second time. All that space could have been used for Miles and Ganke to talk about something, or have Judge come in and further that storyline.

So begins the two weeks of being behind y'all on the latest issue...though, to my credit, I've gotten better about only reading the review and not the spoilers. ^_^

Also, sparticus, that poem was streets ahead! I think I enjoyed that more than the actual issue itself. Best presentation of a summary ever.

Loved the issue. Prowler is definitely becoming Miles' Osborn. His lecture even included the whole "you have a responsibility to me" line. I agree that the story is still moving too slowly and I would like to see more of Miles' school life. Also did the fight between Miles and his uncle remind anyone else of this scene:

Yeah, this is definitely a thing of note. I read through the run again the other day and what he' stealing is made a big deal of in the opening issue, as it is in this one. Wonder why scorpion wanted it so much (I assume Uncle Aaron was stealing it for him).
