All I'm saying is vegans and all most vegetarians believe meat is murder...so they don't eat meat. They stand on their principles. Poison Ivy thinks cutting plants is murder...then eats plants.

If it makes sense to you guys ...that's cool. It is just one of those things that bugs me about her character that I see as an oversight. At the end of the day I will sleep tonight and all will be right in the world.

    Neither now.

Poison Ivy, previous favorite Bat-nemesis, loved her because of her beauty and exoticness, as well as her feminine wiles, but as of some months ago, just realized that was of the Ivy of yesteryear, when she was human-skinned and human-looking (pre-Cataclysm). Since, she has focused more on the plants, became more-and-more plantlike, was completely BORING on Gotham City Sirens, and Birds of Prey, she's now just creepier than ever.

Harley Quinn - loved her characterization the best - the couple of stories, in Paul Dini's Detective Comics, she was actually trying to turn over a new leaf. Character development, as hey, every crook short of Joker has potential for redemption, yet she's still playfully random n' wacky! I blame the later end of Gotham City Sirens, and currently Suicide Squad, for the re-regression of making her nucking futs again; especially the latter, for turning her basically a female Joker.

Y'know, at her very best, Poison Ivy is my favorite and I think has more potential to be a better character than Harley, which is certainly not to put Harley down. Ivy a great villian, and a staple of Batman's rogue gallery for a reason.

But on a random story to story basis I tend to find more stories where I enjoy Harley.

I think it's also just that I'm very picky about Poison Ivy's characterization, and goodness knows she's had a fairly wide range of approaches and there are some takes on her that don't sit well with me. Come to think of it I have similar feelings about the Joker and a few of the other rogues, but with Ivy there's been a lot more cases where things have just fallen flat or I've felt it's been a disservice to the character than me just "not liking a take."

    that is a very simplistic, black 'n' white thinking. There are vegans who will violently attack animal testing labs and others who accept it as a necessary evil. However Ivy is a character that is written by multiple people and this topic is diverse;

    • Sometimes she is entirly like a plant, only needs water and sunlight
    • Sometimes she accepts that eating plants is nessissary, but that caution should be used
    • Sometimes she acknowledges she is better than plants and can use them in anyway she pleases
    • Also keep in mind, eating fuit and stuff is probably okay

Even though she's prone to being written inconsistently, I went with Poison Ivy. I've liked all of her interpretations, regardless of said inconsistencies.

Harley, on the other hand, has only worked as an animated character for me.

I don't think it is black and white thinking at all. Her motivation is to stop the plants form being murdered. That's her schtick. So therefore why would she eat the vegetation she so desperately loves and wants to protect?

I will say I agree that there have been inconsistencies. I do recall the "I only need sunlight and water" character development and I could totally see how fruit from plants would be like a "gift" she would be allowed to eat...I never saw they other two. Every time she would send out a minion plant and Bats or someone would cut themselves free she would always HOWL with anger. But I will say it is entirely possible you have seen more about her than I so...

Sometimes the lines get blurred. Sometimes the only thing between you and them is the mask and cape.

    Poison Ivy.

In my opinion, Harley only worked in the animated show or when Dini was writing her. And the reboot ruined her.

I knew a chick who was totally into Harley Quinn. That wouldn't be surprising if she was a comic fan or a batman fan, but she wasn't really. She just really dug Harley Quinn. So I'm going with Harley Quinn given her appeal to even non comic book fans/chicks
