Thanks for posing this question, Zarquon. I've been trying to figure out which Bat titles to read, and I think from my perusing I've come to the same conclusion as most everyone here. Batman is great, Detective's not doing much for me at all, and Dark Knight I really haven't tried yet. I loved the first arc of Batwoman. So I think I'll be sticking with Batman and Batwoman for the time being.
"Okay, I know I said I wasn't going to shake things up, but we're going to have to get some pants on this one."
Batman is by far my favorite of the bat-titles. Enjoying Batman & Robin as well. Detective has been kinda bland (which is sad after what Snyder did on his run on the title). The Dark Knight has been really bad. I'll pick it up during the Owls crossover and see if the new author can turn it around with #10.
Plan on adding .Inc to the pull list, so I might end up dropping both Detective and Dark Knight (again if the new author doesn't save it).
I've read issues of all the Batbooks, and I'd go:
1) Batwoman
2) Birds of Prey
3) Batman
4) Batman and Robin
5) Batman: The Dark Knight
6) Red Hood and the Outlaws
7) Nightwing
8) Batgirl
9) Catwoman (dropped after 6 issues)
10) Batwing (dropped after 6 issues)
11) Detective (dropped after 1 issue)
I approve Paulski's list.
OP, I gather Suicide Squad is somewhat lacking in quality. Check out the Secret Six trades and the infinite Crisis tie in villains united instead.
I would like to say for the record that this is the FIRST TIME I've withheld dong when someone was so desperately asking for some.

Of the solo Batman books, Batman seems to have the best reputation. I've only been reading Detective and I think it is pretty good, so Batman must be amazing because people seem ready to trash the heck out of 'Tec lol. I haven't looked at Dark Knight. I might buy it in trade.
I've found Batwoman tough to get into. I never looked at any of the Batwoman stuff until the New 52 and while I've enjoyed the comic, every issue I feel like there is stuff I'm missing because I didn't start with the character from the beginning. If you like characters that have their own little corner of a shared universe, Batwoman's the one for you.
Batgirl is good but not spectacular. If you like Gail Simone's style of writing it is an enjoyable read, though it is a poor replacement for classic Birds of Prey.
Can't comment on Suicide Squad
I knew I'd bury you one day, you sanctimonious, self-righteous pain! -- Lex Luthor
Heck, Detective makes Batman read like War and Peace.![]()
If you're scratching your head about some of the stuff in Batwoman, all you need to read to clear everything up is the Elegy trade. It's a pretty damn good read, too.I've found Batwoman tough to get into. Batman by far get batwing to
Glad to see this thread! So I haven't given any of the new 52 books a try but was a Batman fan a few years back. If I start with Batman #8 I'll be at the start of the recent story arc correct?
Pull List: Ghostbusters, Saga, Invincible, Guarding the Globe, Cyber Force, Hellboy in Hell, Punk Rock Jesus and Happy
