Yeah I agree there, I don't want a new Batman movie in 3 or 4 years, but then again I am not an executive at WB. You are absolutely correct on Man of Steel, that will certainly dictate what WB does in terms of DC super heroes in the next few years.

I have a question, must Man of Steel be a mega box office hit in order to get a)more Superman movies and b)more movies based on the potential JL roster (GL, WW, Flash, etc)? Remember Batman Begins was not a massive success upon release, it did very well of course but not nearly Avengers type money (or TDK for that matter), I think it was close to 50 million opening weekend and maybe some 500 million total worldwide? Not bad numbers but what should Man of Steel make in order to secure that franchise, should it be well received by the critics like Begins and not necessarily make huge money or vice versa?

And finally, if/when a JL movie comes out, do you think will we have a Batman franchise reboot prior to that or will they pick up where these franchise left off?

Yeah I think WB has some high expectations for Superman. Superman Returns made decent revenue (higher than Batman Begins), but Warner Bros. thought it could have done even better, and thought that Singer's approach didn't have the action that would have appealed to younger audiences.

Avengers made another $18.9million Monday. By Friday it's likely to be an $800million movie. A billion dollars in barely 2 days seems like a possibility and $100million this coming weekend looks likely.

I hope Bale brought that Bat-Credit Card from Batman and Robin along

That and it had a ridiculous high budget and some of the budget from the previous failed attempts at a Superman revival tacked onto it.

Can't forget the super expensive opening sequence where Superman finds the remains of Krypton that wasn't even in the movie.

    Calm down.

Avengers is doing better, though we can't say for certain until the final total comes in. The Dark Knight made over a billion dollars. Avengers isn't quite there yet, but it's looking like it will get there and more over the next few days/ the next week. Will Avengers better TDK? Yes.

I can't 'prove' it, which is why I said 'almost certainly', but I can use my common sense. You seriously think Nolan/Warners/DC would have been crazy enough to risk leaving out a guaranteed goldmine like the Joker if Heath Ledger hadn't died? I would bet my house that Nolan was already planning the third part while Ledger was still alive. That's why I believe some stuff intended for the Joker has more than likely been adapted for Bane, e.g the imploding football field. Stuff like that has the Joker's imprint all over it. I never said there wouldn't be changes and additions, too.

Avengers shattered the opening weekend box office record in the U.S.

I think at this point it's a fairly safe bet that DKR won't make as much as Avengers did/is, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. (Although The Avengers was awesome too)

Weekend update: Avengers has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide. I'm actually not sure it will catch up to the TDK in domestic sales because there are a bunch of movies coming out this summer. I think TDKR will have longer legs because it doesn't have that much competition in subsequent weeks with Bourne Legacy being the biggest franchise after that launch.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I seriously doubt this movie will beat the Avengers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it will do great and all but the Avengers Results were insane

I agree. Very few movies I've said I'll see again in the movies and fewer still I go for a third time. TDMR will have to be massively good for me to go see it again.

The question shouldn't be "will DKR top Avengers" but will Avengers challenge Avatar.

Not a chance in hell. Too many big films are coming out this summer. Avatar pretty much released in a season where it'd have zero real competition. Avengers probably has one more week on top.

MIB 3 should beat it. but by the the time its over Avengers should be in the top 3 of all time.
McKenstry those with the most opinions often have the fewest facts.

Barack Obama There's not a liberal America and a conservative America - there's the United States of America.

Christopher Yost Cyclops = Awesome and Right, while Xavier = USELESS JERK-O! Viva la Cyclops!

Facts are the enemy of truth.

You gonna get us out of here. With that tight-ass Wolverine outfit on. Now, let's make it happen, asshole

YOST: Okay, it's not Jean Grey. Nobody likes her

It won't do. Actually, it won't come even close.
