They are two different movies.

Avengers is like Star Wars where it's a family friendly adventure where TDKR is like Blade Runner where's a mature and dark thriller.

I voted for Since this is the last film people won't want to miss it. The advertisements always mention that The Legend Ends really hammering it in that this is last one with this cast and director.

I've been a life-long Marvel fan, having been raised on Spider-Man, and I'm hoping The Dark Knight Rises makes a truckload of money! As much, if not more than The Avengers. And, I hope mainstream movie audiences keep going to comic book movies because I've been waiting almost as long as I've been a comics fan to see all these characters come to life on movie screens (remember the movies from the 80's and 90's? And look what we're getting now!). I hope superhero movies keep going strong and keep making a lot of money for producers so they keep making them! 'Nuff said ;-)

Yeah it's not really a competition. I think the success of the Avengers if anything only helps DC. It brings some legitimacy to the superhero genre and it's the reason why WB is likely to green light a JL film.

It's easy to believe considering all of the Nolan batman films are great films first, and great superhero films second. What does that say about the audience if Dark Knight Rises makes more money?

Then again, are box office receipts a good way to judge a film?
