People want a great movie first, action second.
Kids dig Batman more because of all the toys.
Are you insane Avengers is making more money!
People are tired of Thor, Hulk, Captain America...etc.
The last movie made more money than God so...
Since this is the last film people won't want to miss it.
The avengers is truly a horrific film. Each to their own but its been a long since i walked out on a film and this had me on the edge of my seat for none of the right reasons. It will not be remembered. It may well do well in the box office but that measures nothing especially if 3d is attached. I genuinely want my money back. This coming from a man who enjoyed the phantom. Rant over please ignore if you enjoyed the film.
It was entertaining, had amusing character quips, fun action, etc. It wasn't impressive by any means. I'd give it 3.5/5.
the quips were so cringey i felt genuine pain. entertaining. fun and the action were so sporadic due to their technical mumbo jumbo chats that made no sense because a toddler must of written it. I actually talked to someone last night at a bar and they brought their kid to see it and said the enjoyment it brought his son made it one od the best films he had ever seen. Poin taken and it serves it purpose but to even hold it in the same light as nolans batman is offensive. I give it 1.5 because every film with a big budget deserves a rating. I hated it so much i've annoyed myself. I will not say another word about it.
Cant wait for bane to tear everything a part in july. Also looking forward to pormetheus
Yeah a lot of the quips were cheesy; it did feel like they were directed at comic book fans, border lining on inside jokes. I would still say this is a significant step above something like Bay's Transformers, even though it's the same ball park, being an action/entertaining style over substance film.
What cheesy lines? I dont remember all that many. If anything, that's a staple of the genre. Even Nolan does it, and he is the worst at it. "Nice ride", the kids finger shooting at the cars which then batman blows them up with his batpod, etc.
Also, i wouldnt say that the movie lacked substance. I mean yeah sure, it was the typical "superheroes fight aliens" story, but it managed to juggle the main guys + fury + coulson + maria hill and give everyone things to do, and a chance to shine. It also expanded on the characters, with Tony-Bruce bromance, Cap getting accepted as the team leader, banner controlling hulk, Widow and Hawkeye and their relationship and past, etc.
It wasnt deep or anything, but it did what it was supposed to do and it didnt falter anyway. Major props for that.
It's probably more of an issue on what lines we consider cheesy, not remembering the cheesy lines.

You mean a deeper theme? Well it was an Avengers movie, the one dealing with the team's origin at that. It was supposed to bring them together, get them to fight amongst themselves and finally make them cooperate to win the day and i'd say it did that. It would be pretty hard to fit some sort of deep theme in there too.
I just wrote out a long rant but realised it was pointless posting. I hope as many people enjoy this film as possible and i never have to meet any of them. To each their own. I love liquorice and marzipan and many would call me crazy for that.
I have a question. Why didnt the government or whoever fired that missile at the end towards manhattan just fire it through the hole in the first place. The avengers werent even needed maybe hulk to take out loki which he did with such ease was he even a threat? That storyline had so many plotholes in it, it makes the o-zone layer look faultless.
IF Dark Knight RIses MAKES MORE MONEY THAN AVENGERS THEN there is hope for the film industry
The Avengers will make a massive amount of money. I mean, it made over $200,000,000 before it was even released in the States. It's a fun movie with broad appeal.
If The Dark Knight Rises makes more, there is hope for Hollywood yet. And Warner Brothers may actually grant Nolan God status. Let's not forget that on top of The Dark Knight's billion dollars, Inception, a completely original story that in all honesty was pretty much green lit to appease Nolan so he would make a third Batman film, grossed over $800,000,000.
Personally, I think The Avengers may have it beat. Just because it appeals to many more people (I mean, how many kids actually watched and enjoyed The Dark Knight?). But I wouldn't count The Dark Knight Rises out. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter a whole lot. But the idea of Nolan besting the combined efforts of everyone at Marvel is really amusing to me.

Your name is Kal-El. You are the only survivor of the planet Krypton. Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them
