People want a big dumb action movie.
People can relate to the characters better.
Due to each hero having their own movie they have more market "presence."
Are you insane Batman is making more money. Duh!
Avengers is more kid friendly.
People are tired of Batman.

No, there's Avengers comics? When did those start to come out?[/sarcasm]
What I'm saying is that between double-shipping, $4 for 20 pages, unending events and so on, Marvel's publishing arm is really hellbent on getting as much short-term gains as they can while riding the industry into trhe gutter and oversaturating the maret instead of playing the long game.
Noty AvX in specific, just Marvel's entire business strategy in the last 5 years or so.I'm sure that was a shot at AvX and other modern story arcs taking place, probably Bendis as well.
I kinda like Bendis, I just wish he did more of the kind of books he's actually good at writing. Or alternatively would be left free to write the Avengers the way he'd like to, because no way did Secret Invasion end even remotely like he planned it.

'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
None of the above. For one, Avengers is being released early in May with no real competition in theatres or major events outside of the Kentucky Derby.
At the risk of derailing the thread yeah I'd like to see Bendis take on more street level solo books as well. Has there been news about what he's doing post AvX yet or the writer shuffle-up at all? I've taken a month break from comics to focus on finals and stuff and am a bit behind (don't know anything about AvX at this point and didn't even read the #0 so far).
People actually care which one makes more money? They're both going to make lots and lots of money, what does it matter?

I get that. But the huge history of the Avengers title shows that the stories have tended to be more buildup to big event stories as opposed to short "one off" stories. I didn't realize when I posted my slightly facetious reply that his comment was less about the stories and more about the companies (Marvel) apparent mis-managing of its direction within the market. Those are two separate yet related issues.

A woman can move a lot faster with her skirt up than a man can with his pants down.
