I was one of these worrying about Bane's voice in the film (even though I could understand it in the showed scenes), but comparing it to the one from the new trailer, I must agree with Nolan on not wanting to change it. It definitely sounded better then than now. Maybe we will get two versions of it on DVD?

Snyder isn't untalented, but he'll always be known as the director who only found success by using other people's ideas. When he went at it alone with sucker punch, it was a disaster.
He was talking about Scott Snyder.

I thought the thrills in that movie came more from seeing all the characters together rather than actual excitement generated by Whedon's direction or the script.
I disagree. The script is what elevated the movie to being more than just Transformers with superheroes. I bet Michael Bay felt really uncomfortable watching Avengers, because it did what he tried and failed to do.

It's all about the characters. If you don't have well written characters you can root for, amazing action scenes don't mean shit.

The plot itself is simple. Bad guy wants to win, good guys have to stop him. But pretty much any movie, including Nolan's Batman movies, can be boiled down to that. The story is different. The story is the little details that make up the plot. The character interactions, how they are developed. How they go from isolated people who think they can do it alone to realising they need to work together. There was great moments, like Loki's scene in Germany which was brilliantly edited along with Captain America "suiting up". Thor and Loki arguing on the mountain was really well acted. Notice the Raven's in that scene, Odin keeping an eye on his two sons. Brilliant little touch. The part where they are arguing on the Helicarrier and the camera focuses on Loki's sceptre. Even the action scenes themselves were all about the characters instead of the CGI. It's the little details like those which make the simple plot a more complex story.

Nolan may lack subtlety in some of his writing, but what he gets right in terms of plot, character, direction, music (which is admittedly credit should go wholly to Hans Zimmer) and innovation (IMAX>3D anyday) more than make up for it. And it's not like Nolan's writing is bad. The interrogation room scene with the Joker was pitch perfect.
The Joker/Batman interrogation was indeed amazing. As was Joker talking to Dent in the hospital. But Nolan isn't that great at characterisation. Rachel Dawes is one of the worst females in the entire genre. She's just a plot device. And i cannot fathom how either Bruce Wayne or Harvey Dent are interested in her. And Lucius Fox, what the hell is he? He's just Batman's Q in TDK. He isn't really a character of his own. And Sal Maroni and the other gangsters are just cardboard cut outs, archetypes. I think the best character in his movies is Gordon. He's the most complex and fully developed one. Batman himself was boring and uninteresting in TDK imo. And Bale's shouty angry man isn't intimidating at all. Keaton was more intimidating with a cold whisper and psychotic glare.

    This.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It looks like we Catwoman fans are finally going to get a good portrayal of the character on the big screen again after the mess that was the 2004 Catwoman movie.

Nolan is a grossly overrated director, but I love Batman, so I'll see this on opening night.

I loved it when the tumbler turned into a Bat spaceship! Or maybe a Bat time machine, we're going back Marty!

But yeah, for the most part very somber trailer, and they're really forshadowing that we should think Batman could die in this film. Pretty much, I feel like anything could happen here.

    Can't wait!

Just saw this trailer this morning, and I must say I'm really starting to look forward to this movie. Bane looks like he's been translated pretty well, Hathaway looks amazing as Catwoman, and the sense of an ending is truly being built up well. Not as geeked about this as I am about The Avengers, but I'll be checking this out as well.

This trailer definitely made me more confident in the Catwoman costume.

Yikes! Spielberg of the last two decades or before? Cause the latter...poor Mr. Nolan.

He deserves the accolades he's been given. I don't think Rises looks that interesting though. I'm definitely reading reviews before I plunk down the money for a ticket.

And I thought people were saying the Nolan movies are too dark and not fun.

I wouldn't compare Nolan to Spielberg from any era. Two completely different styles and sensibilities.

I wouldn't say that. Memento and The Prestige are truly great films. The Prestige i think is Nolan's masterpiece. His Bat movies are grossly overrated though.

I enjoy how seriously his Batman films take themselves, and how informed they are by the comic books. It definitely beats the campiness of the 'eighties Superman, and the burton/schumacher bat-films.

Yeah he's much, much different from Spielburg and most "blockbuster" directors, like him, Cameron, etc. The fact that he doesn't do 3-D alone separates him from them.
