Now I'm all for each book having her own flavor, I think that's a necessity. Action Comics seems to have been set up as the flagship book from the start. It's retelling the origin and setting up the character. It's already being contradicted though, which I find silly. This is what was wrong with the books before the relaunch. The whole New Krypton event set up a neat Krypton using an amalgam of all the different iterations the books had shown over the course of just under a decade. It's important to have some synergy or else it's non-sequitor.

I think the SUPERMAN book is in bad straights without a real direction. I don't like the Wildstorm stuff, and while it started off decently it has become very drab. It feels like same old same old, when everything is trying not to be. Supergirl has been a good read and I think that book is in good hands though. I won't even begin to discuss Superboy for I don't think it is worth the time.
But how do you change Superman without making him something he is not. You need to follow a basic footprint of what Superman is and how he acts. You do that the wrong way and you kill the character dead.

Yeah, I agree with Lexrules here. I remember the users Misslane38 and Litgeek saying something similar.

I like Lobdell's titles and I don't like Michael Bay films.

Something tells me you're pulling a cheap pathetic tactic to try and make out people who enjoy the comics you don't like as idiots.

Oh god no. I was teasing TC. He and I are buddies. My sarcasm is usually dry so it can come off as rude when in text. Apologizes to anyone I offended.

He's written some good stuff. But there's other times when I can't just follow what he's doing / where he's going, and there's nothing there that makes me care.

I bought and read issues 3 - 8 of Action Comics, and I just didn't like his Superman / Clark.

It wasn't like I felt he was challenging authority for a greater cause . . . his Clark seemed like one of those annoying Occupy Wall Street / "We are the 99%" who KNOWS he's right(!) and refuses to listen to any other possible side of the story.

I have enjoyed most of the new 52 DCU but I have been underwhemed by the relaunch on Superman. I love George Perez as a plotter/penciler but as a scripter I was bored with his Superman. Unfortunately the Helspont story by Giffen/Jurgens was dull too. As far as Action - I loved #1-4,7 & 8. If DC can't get me excited about Superman again I will drop probably end up dropping both titles.

    Lol you got me.

Actually on watching his Transformers movies, I realized I really didn't like them. I only liked the first because I'd never seen Transformers on such a scale before...or Megan Fox.

I'm not much of a Scott Lobdell fan based on his past work.. But let's give the guy a chance before we jump all over him. Maybe he'll do his best work ever on this, who knows? If it's bad he will hopefully be taken off the book.
Life looks better in black and white.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I get what you're saying, but I think that's intentional. Morrison's Clark is kind of a brash impulsive kid with a chip on his shoulder for any and all authority. He still has to grow into the Superman that we've come to know. I just don't see Lobell being able to manage that. I'll give it a shot but I've largely been unable to like anything that Lobell has written. Of course I'm not in his target demographic.

I really hope that once Nick Spencer's tenure at Marvel is up, he gets a steady title at DC.
Judging by his Jimmy Olsen one-shot, he'd be perfect for Superman

I like Scott Lobdell's Teen Titans and Superboy, but I don't think he's the right fit for Superman.

Don't hold your breath, Brevoort said on his Formspring that Spencer is staying with Marvel and has more books on the horizon.

This is something I firmly agree with.
