I guess the real question now is how much will the Avengers movie make when it's out of theaters. $200 million the first weekend is insane, and unexpected, I expect for that record to stand for quite some time. Well deserved as the movie was amazing in every sense of the word.

I think the whole world is still in shock at just how successful the Avengers has been at the box office.

$200 million+ opening is the highest opening weekend ever adjusted for inflation or not. The good thing about this is that it's success in the first three days has been driven by insanely good word of mouth which bodes well for its legs.

Anyways, congrats to Marvel on a job well done. The Avengers movie deserves every penny it makes at the box office because the film is that damn good.

I'd guess it stays at #1 for a few weeks until MIB 3 comes out. Heck Avengers just may be the first movie ever to gross over 100 million in consecutive weekends. My guess would be a final domestic gross of about $520-550 million

The Avengers cleared another 18 mil and change on Monday. Domestic box office is now north of 227 mil (with Monday numbers). Has now cleared 700 mil worldwide.
