Default How much will the Avengers movie gross in it's 1st weekend/domestically?

After the Avengers movie opened huge in 70% of the Foreign terrirotries it'll open in. Let's see who can guess the opening weekend here in the US.

Here are the opening weekend's of the other Marvel films released by Marvel studios.

    Iron Man $98,618,668

    Incredible Hulk $55,414,050

    Iron Man 2 $128,122,480

    Thor $65,723,338

    Captain America $65,058,524

My guess is Avengers will open up at 159 million just behind Harry Potter's final film as the 2nd largest opening weekend of all time.

Personally, I think Avengers *might* take that top spot away from Potter.

Hopefully it will gross around 50-80 million. That would be a good opening I think.

Optimistically I hope it can take the top spot, but I'm trying to be conservative so I see it falling behind the last Potter (which is still fantastic)

Are you serious? That would be considered a bomb like Green Lantern.

I'm guessing $160-165 million for the opening weekend. Remember, Iron Man 2 almost had a $130 million opening two years ago without 3D. Plus, the reviews for Iron Man 2 weren't nearly as good. The Avengers has a 97% on RT right now, IM2 had a 74%. Harry Potter will probably keep its record, at least for a few more months.

Around 170 million. I think the universal acclaim from the critics, great WOM from fans and record breaking international numbers will build the hype in the US.

Whut?!?! You think it won't make more than the first Iron Man? lol. 50-80 million for a film that cost 220 million to make would be terrible.

Definitely more than 100 million. I'd guess $120 million to $149 million.

Forgot about 3D. Hmmm...with the rave reviews and good quality, plus all the movie tie ins this is going to be huge. I still think this is going to do better than Dark Knight Rises. It just has way more plates spinning to not do better.

Given its overseas performance and general good reviews, it would be surprising if it didn't break 100 million. I would expect it to beat IM2 but not beat Harry Potter, call it 140-150M.

Boxoffice.com has it at $170 million opening weekend. http://www.boxoffice.com/statistics/...rm_predictions

My firm thinks that's a little high, but it would be awesome if it broke the Harry Potter record.

Judging by the reviews and that fact it almost made 200 million overseas in the first week, and early projections it might very well take the top spot away from Potter. Something I Never would of dared to think 2 months ago.

And if it doesn't break it, then it will at least give it a run for its money.
