Although it does have the problem of being released the same week as Animal Man and Swamp Thing...
That's okay - it's looking better than both of them :)

I figure this and WF will replace 'Tec and OMAC on my list.
Anyone who thinks DC is bringing back the Silver Age doesn't know what the Silver Age is.

There is no such word as "persay," it's per se, two words, from the Latin.

This looks absolutely fabulous.. and to get Jay and Alan 'young'.. that's a dream come true for me. Alan's always been my favorite Green Lantern character (but what.. I ask.. WHAT will his uniform look like?!?!?!?) I've never had a problem with Robison's writing style, I guess I can appreciate where others are coming from.. but it works just fine for me. I get the Clark/Diana vibe, too.. as someone noted. The article mentions that the Trinity won't be the focus, and that's fine but it drives me crazy when alternate reality versions of characters are more interesting with the 'regular' ones. At least on the surface. Maybe that's easy to do if you don't have to keep them around and maintain that level of interest in them.

My only quibble with this book is I've gone completely digital but it looks like something I'd want in print. Oh well.. if it's good enough there's room on the TPB shelf I guess.

I make my living as a playwright and theatre director and I can assure you that if Robinson's intention (in this preview or in his JLA) was to write "theater plays" he has proven to be quite bad at it.

This preview pretty much proved out my anxieties about Robinson writing this title.

His JLA (and Cry for Justice) wasn't a fluke. He's bad at writing superhero comics. His prose is maximum purple and he only writes in prose. I wanted to love this book.

Only thing that looks good about this is the art and Helena being Robin.

And it smells like crap. I knew this was going to happen the moment they announced Lois was dead.

Well, that's kind of the point, the preview is needed to judge the book, if you want to spend the money on it or not.

You're so negative. I personally don't mind, but I didn't expect it to be so sudden.

    Valid complaint.

It really doesn't necessarily have to mean anything. Considering their history in alternate universes, I can get why minds would go there, but just to play devil's advocate right now its quite getting ahead of ourselves.

Especially when we consider that they are not playing a huge role in this book, despite the play they've been getting in the lead-up. Which I feel is deliberate. I think its the Doyle-effect, honestly. Referring of course to the character Doyle in the series Angel, and how in the first season he was given lead character status even though he was planned, from the very start, to be killed off halfway through the season. It was done to give the illusion of longevity and importance to the character to make it shocking when he was killed off. I think the trinity here are being hyped up to no end so it'll be rather jolting to fans when they make their exit. I mean, they've made no bones that characters like Jay and Alan are indeed coming, but I think what puts them at the forefront is going to be quite significant and will have to do with the trinity leaving that forefront. Be it by dying, maiming, leaving the planet, leaving the universe, or something other means.

You sound like you may have gone into this with a preconceived notion and have simply looked for evidence that supports your opinion. The book isn't even out yet; might be a little early to suggest it stinks.

Eh might be a bit late but... Who's Robin supposed to be? Bruce's daughter? I thought Helen was his only child on Earth-2 or is that her?

Helena is Robin and will become Huntress in Worlds' Finest.

Definitely agree with you, I would not be surprised to see this Trinity have an early death in this battle, leading to Jay and Alan and others getting the spotlight.

Which I'm fine with personally, I've been longing for something different like this. As far as Robinson's writing is concerned, I'm waiting to read more of this. I'm not necessarily turned off by what I see, I just want to see more before I condemn it.
