I actually go to IGN quite a bit for coverage of games and comics but I have to respectfully disagree with the reviews score. In fact, so does Comic Vine.

Ever-changing Pulls
DC - Batman, Aquaman, JL, JLD, JLA, Green Lantern, Vibe, Flash, Constantine, Earth 2
Image - Saga
Dark Horse - Star Wars
I too respectfully disagree. I thought it was a good read and I'm happily looking forward to where this goes. I think I'd give it a solid 8/10. I'm surprised so many people thought this was going another way like Diana and Clark hooking up. I thought the big twist was pretty clear when I first heard about the series... I haven't had a chance to read World's Finest yet, since I just read Earth 2 on my lunch break after I stopped by the comic shop, but I'm looking forward to it too.
Amazing art!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They way Bruce died was quite amazing! Diana death increadible. The dialogue fit the script this issue, Stephenwolf with the the kill shot.....the back up was intresting . 10/10.
i had pretty low hopes going into this, but was actually surprised by how much i liked it. i enjoy the direction this is going and the art is more than solid. infinitely better than anything that has happend in justice league so far. i'm definitely in for at least the first arc.
SPACE FOR RENT!
Beware of possible spoilers though I'm going to try and be vague:
I'm very torn on what I think about this book. I read it briefly over lunch and I'll be honest....I really only had a passing interest because I think Nicola Scott is possibly the best artist in the genre right now.
The art is stunning. Nicola Scott is an absolutely stunning artist. The way in which she draws the battle scenes with the Trinity is gorgeous and epic in scope. Her take on Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman is gorgeous and majestic.
I'm honestly shocked that there were people who actually thought that this book was going to end with Diana and Clark hooking up.
Well, let me rephrase that, I'm not "shocked" because I do think that DC has set a very unfortunate precedent that they sometimes do hook up after Lois has died a violent or tragic death. I think it's very unfortunate that DC has set that precedent because I don't think it's a set-up that reflects well on either character. I think putting Wonder Woman, of all people, in the position of having to be the distant second or Superman's last resort after he has lost the woman he considers his soulmate is kind of a tragic place for her. Mark Waid didn't write Kingdom Come to be an ideal vision of the future universe. Kingdom Come was written to be a cautionary tale on every level and even Mark Waid himself has confirmed that the ending of Kingdom Come was never meant to imply that Diana in any way replaced Lois Lane was the love of Superman's life.
I guess I'm more shocked because....with the way Lois's death was presented in the press surrounding the book....hooking up Superman and Wonder Woman would have been, imo, in incredibly poor taste for both characters. We saw Superman state that he still loved Lois in the book even though she was gone and Superman was obviously dealing with extreme grief. Wonder Woman was acting extremely out of character in her desire for revenge. It always stuns me that Diana's characterization winds up so "off" in these cautionary AU's when they present her as losing her cool and seeking revenge after the destruction of her family. The bottom line is that Diana has lost her family before---even in regular continuity---and her in-character reaction would not be to resort to violence or revenge. It just feels like a very disrespectful way to write her.
It seemed clear to me the more that we learned about this book what was going to happen to the Trinity. It was clear that Superman had lost everything that gave him a reason to live.
I'm torn with this because I grew up reading Earth 2 and the original Earth 2 books (particularly the Superman Family books) meant a great deal to me. My father and I used to read them together when I was a child.
I'm not saying that I think James Robinson's concept for this different world is wrong per se. I just wish it wasn't Earth-2. I with it was another Earth. Because I still really value what Earth-2 used to mean for the DCU and this just isn't it. Earth -2 used to be a place where we got to watch our heroes age and grow and mature with families intact. To see the world turned into such a sad place is kind of heartbreaking.
I am slightly more positive about the spin-off into Worlds' Finest although I don't care for the way DC has handled the "death" of Helena Bertinelli. However, I think that book looks promising and might provide a great opportunity for both women to really grow as heroes and as characters in new ways for new fans.
Needless to say....I think the people who are hoping that Diana and Clark hook up in another place are missing the point. If Superman is looking for anyone after the ending of this book....I think the answer to who he is going to be looking for can be found in the original ending of the Earth 2 Superman as seen in the Crisis. He's going to be looking to reunite with someone. And her intials are LL.
What am I not on the fence about? Nicola Scott. She's brilliant. I really hope DC keeps her around for a long time on big, wonderful projects. What a stunning artist.

Ten out of ten for me. Will the story be as good as the intro? No idea.. but this was a fantastic comic.. my favorite read so far this year.

Loved it. Every single panel, page, line of dialogue (well, maybe some felt clunky). I really, really, really enjoyed it. The inner monologues had a rhythm that pushed forward every scene, it fit the action nicely, and it gave the overall book an even bigger scope. Yes, they're not thinking or talking like a normal person would, but that's the entire point, it's a big epic tale like the ones in the past, where everybody is a poet and speaks giving emphasis and energy to every word. It's not a superhero tale, it's a heroic poem.
I found it was a great beginning, and I'm looking forward to read more.
spoilers:end of spoilers
Everybody dies horribly. Then the actual cast gets introduced.
Pretty good, the art was outstanding.
So a few questions?
