The writing just feels so stiff and uninspiring, and the only thing worse than bad art is bad writing. But am keeping in mind this is just a small taste of the book, really hope my first impressions are proven wrong.

Nice art though.

I'd rather have a few pages of exposition and then start the story than spend five issues getting the reader caught up. If the entire book reads like that, then there would be a problem.

One of my criticisms of Robinson is that he tends to go overboard with the exposition, stiff exposition at that, to the point of boredom. Not all the time, but it was my main issue with his Superman run a few years back. I just found myself getting bored often. Hopefully that won't happen here.

Liked the logo, and I realized that Nicola Scott is becoming in one of my favorite artists, her art is gorgeous. I found the inner monologues somewhat corny but I can ignore it for the fist few issues, I suppose.

Hmmm...I was a bit dismayed when the article said that the Trinity will not be the main focus...but I am still quite looking forward to this.

When she came to my local comic-con, Nicola admitted that the book pulls a 180 with the second issue and goes where you don't expect, so I'm not so sure the focus on the trinity is going to be a long-term thing.

You can say it's bad dialogue, but I don't think you can dismiss the whole writing of the book.

It's a total nitpick, but dialogue is when two or more people speak to one another (typically in naturalistic vernacular). These are internal monologues. I don't disagree with your assessment, though. They don't quite read like, say, "how people think". Or at least they don't read like how I would think that these three people think.

Robinson's snatched back a lot of my faith via his The Shade maxi-series, so I'm giving Earth 2 a shot. Nicola's art helps tons. Still, wonky. Read the lines aloud and the problems become really apparent; Superman's lines are melodramatic and verbose. The very reason I prefer Morrison's take on Superman; he never forgets that this is a farmer's son who grew up in a rural community. His Superman is still a nice guy with good-hearted thoughts, but he thinks in pragmatic, to-the-point sentences.

Diana's seems to be waxing poetic when her mind should be on the present, the tactics. That said, this is a common comic trope and I can deal with it. Maybe Parademons are such easy pests to defeat there's all kinds of time to think deep thoughts while smiting them. (Then again, if that's the case how'd they wipe out Themyscira?). Bruce's seems a little melodramatic as well, but it's brief enough that it doesn't read as verbose as Superman's.

Anyway, I won't just this issue by a couple panels on the first few pages. I just hope Robinson doesn't fall into the overlapping, competing monologue balloons that jumbled up his recent JLA runs. The beauty of The Shade is the singular narrator, we're along for the ride with one sole protagonist, experiencing things with him, and so there's this cohesion and purpose to all the structure as it moves along.

I don't mind the monologuing personally, reads okay to me. Plus I need more than a couple of pages to make my mind up about the title. Love the art though. Looking forward to this.

I agree completely with this. No matter what though there will be a lot of people to judge the book based solely on the preview. That's alright, maybe it will mean more people who get this will enjoy it because all of the people who hate it already won't be buying it.

Was not expecting this. Well, I do trust Robinson with JSA and The Shade has been awesome (speaking of, any news on a collected edition for this?). That paired with Scott's amazingly sexy art, I will give it at least 6 issues.

Although it does have the problem of being released the same week as Animal Man and Swamp Thing...
