Default Action Comics #9 Preview/Eventual Discussion

    Via DC Comics' official web-site.

Not a whole lot outside of the covers and the first double-page spread. I am curious to see what this story is and how it'll relate to the rest of Morrison's tale, though.

I don't know how an alternate reality one and done would relate to anything else Morrison is doing...it's just a filler.
Pull-list: Action Comics, Batman, The Flash, Superman, Superman Unchained, Batman/Superman

Everything Morrison does will tie in to a bigger theme, and not to mention this might be a set up for Multiversity.

It's about President Superman fighting the universe hopping Super-Doom. At the very least the issue is being used to introduce that future threat, and it may touch on other stuff that Morrison will be running with. I wouldn't be surprised to see the little man there (is Teetotal the name he's going by right now I'm not sure?)

"Never-ending battle for Truth, justice, liberty and equality".
    I liked how that sound.
But were exactly this Superman could have landed?

A black president Superman? Is DC trying for some federal tax dodge? This just seems like just so much buttkissing to me... But I'll still buy it and probably enjoy it too, so what the hell do I know? :p

Am I the only one disappointed about this Superman's origin? It's just a black version of Clark's origin using the same names (Jorel, Lara, Kalel). You'd think they'd come up with original names for the Black Kryptonians.

I don't know if he's going by that name, but "teetotal" is a person who never gets drunk.

I'm going to go ahead and guess Hawaii. From what I remember, their birth certificate laws are a little more lax. :P

Actually, it's a person who never drinks alcohol. At all.

He still doesn't have a name. Glenmorgan called him the Teetotaller because he didn't know what else to call him. Glenmorgan offered him a drink in the first issue and he said "Mr. Glenmorgan, I'm teetotal".

In the concept art and sketches, as well as in passing, he's referred to as "The Little Man", and that's as official as it gets right now.

Batman 666, a one off issue set in an alternate future, is one of the most important issues in Morrison's Batman run. It shows us, years before it happens in the comics, that there would be two Batmen, it sets up Bruce's absence, Damian becoming Robin, Dick becoming Batman, and many of the villains from that story appear in Batman and Robin. It'll relate

People thought the interlude during the Collector arc was going to be filler as well, turned out it wasn't (a few might still stubbornly insist so but the collected arc proves otherwise). So I wouldn't be so quick to assume that a supposed stand-alone issue won't contain very relevant materials going forward.
