Default So, is Atlas going to get their stuff together or what?

Their initial 3 books are over a year old now and they're only on issue #5 of Phoenix, and the other two are I believe only on issue #4 a piece, they NEVER update their Twitter and their official site gets updates like once every 4 months or so.......what gives?

I'm so sick of publishers leaving their fans in the dark when it comes to lateness or other concerns going on with the books, it's a personal slap in the face and I'm tired of logging on to their site to see absolutely nothing new week after week. It may seem harsh but seriously, it's not hard to keep fans updated with more than what their giving us. I know it's a tough industry and I know the books take a while to make, but their readership would be much higher than it is now if they got their stuff out on time and posted some updates and/or some promotion for books every now and again. I think I'm just about done with Atlas, I tried to give an upstart company a try despite their books being mediocre at best in hopes that things would improve and change, but so far the whole experience has been pretty disappointing and I think it's time for me to give up.

Sorry Atlas, but you've lost a customer.

You are right here and this makes me wonder about the long term fate of Ardden as well.Already we have delays on The Devil in Drury and possibly some other non Atlas launches.I'll hang in till the issue 6's are shipped ,but that is it for me.Sounds like serious money flow issues, and while I haven't heard any creative teams complaining about non payment I never did hear why Krueger left.

There have been previews for wulf #5 and phoenix #5 for a while although those come out in may.

Um...actually all the #5s have already come out. Your local Comic Shop probably got tired of having to re-order from Diamond everytime Atlas re-solicited their books. Both Wulf & Phoenix #5 came out in March. Also, Grim Ghost #6 came out in February or March as well. Grim Ghost is actually the only one to finish a story arc so far. Diamond has Atlas Unified #2 re-solicted for June. I have no idea when Wulf & Phoenix #6 will be out (if ever) as the last time they were solicted to Diamond was for a March release. To be honest I was trying very hard to stay supportive of Atlas but am pretty tired of their on-line silence as well. I agree that their lack of desire to update their web-site is disturbing. I probably could have suffered through the delays if they would at least keep us informed as to what is going on. I for one believe Atlas is probably going to go under if they haven't already. I'll probably abandon Atlas to their self imposed distruction as soon as Wulf & Phoenix #6 come out and I can complete the first story arcs. I was also buying Unified but since its 8 issues I don't think I'll even bother finishing it as I seriously doubt Atlas will. This whole Atlas thing has also turned me off to Valiant. I simply have no desire to jump on to a new company that might fold.
Pull List: Transformers, Green Lantern, Batman Inc, Justice League, East of West and Deathmatch.

Turned you off as in you won't be trying Valiant, or did you mean that Atlas has steered you to Valiant instead of sticking to Atlas and waiting?

I think he means he wont try it because of the risk of a new company trying usually falls. Example: Atlas, Stan Lee + BOOM! (it went BOOM! if you know what I mean, rachachacha), and semi Kirby.

Don't forget Crossgen even though it lasted a few years. Also, Aftermath comics, Big City Comics, the DH Gold Key launch.

I tried Atlas for the first 2 issues of each book, it was pretty bad and very generic in my thoughts.

Actually Wulf #6 just got cancelled to be resolicited again for what will be its 3rd appearance soon in a Previews catalog.

However, I'm more inclined to cut that book some slack because I believe Nat Jones is going through some health issues at the moment. (Or am I confusing him with Josh Medors? I think they're both going through some stuff.)

I'm surprised Steve Niles hasn't commented about it at all.

But someone posted here a few weeks ago saying the reason all the other books from Ardden have been delayed is because they've had problems getting the only 3 issues Agent Marc Saunders mini ready for American customers because apparently, its very different in its original European form via format. Or so its been insinuated.

Either that or they needed to have a lot of bake sales and car washes to afford an original Neal Adams cover.

Unlike everyone else, I've enjoyed the books and plan on continuing the line. There are delays, but that's not a big deal to me. The books come out, I see them, buy 'em and read 'em, just like I do any other book that I follow.

If they were the only line I was following I might be upset, but since they're not, I can wait. I re-read everything anyway, so it's no biggie.

Oh, I totally agree. With all the books I'm reading, it's nice to have something that only comes out every so often so by the time I do get around to it, it's not all over in an hour.

Actually what confused some people about the solicitations is that there was a second solicit for GG#6 after it had already hit the shops. The same may have been true for Wulf and Phoenix #5.My guess is that sales were so low that there are copies still laying around that Atlas/Ardden is trying to dump. You hung in there longer than anybody, but I don't blame you.My thought is the project was launched with no cash behind it unlike the Cuneo Bros. acquisition of Valiant , but even there I think the margin for success is razor thin. Given the economy and the fact that many fans are uncomfortable buying anything outside of their comfort zone I think Indie comics major start up projects have a slim to none chance of success. What made Valiant a Hit 20 yrs. ago was then and this is now.Atlas from what I understand didn't even have a successful run in their original 70's version to launch from.Too many other good Indies to pick from like Big Dog Ink,Red 5,12 Gauge,Avatar/Boundless,etc. I think Atlas like a dozen other companies got way ahead of itself post 2008 by assuming there was a profitable market for spinoff merchandise, as well, before the comics had proven themselves.Ironically with proper cash flow Atlas would have been better off partnering with Stan Lee.It would have been interesting to see Stan's imprint on a company that tried to be a Marvel competitor back in the day with some room left over for Stan Lee's own creations thrown in.

Its kind of like what you've said in the past on this site. Getting invested in these new companies/universes and having them go under makes a person cautious about even trying them. I will not be trying Valiant. This doesn't mean I'm giving up Independent companies. In fact my pull list has been made up of mostly Independent titles for many years now. I'm simply gun-shy of any NEW companies. Right now I buy mostly from IDW but am going to try Boom's "Extermination" (June), Dark Horse's "The Massive" (June), IDW's Frankenstein Alive, Alive and Transformers #81 (former Marvel run). So its not that I'm leaving Independents, I'm simply sticking with the ones that seem to be here to stay.
Pull List: Transformers, Green Lantern, Batman Inc, Justice League, East of West and Deathmatch.

I just looked through Diamond's catalog for July and they solicitated Atlas Unified #3.
