Default Gage Prepares A "Final Exam" For "Avengers Academy"

In August's "Avengers Academy" #34, writer Christos Gage kicks off "Final Exam." No, it's not the end of the series, but is a story arc that pits the teen protagonists against the forces of the manipulative Alchemist.

Looks promising and much to my relief, it isn't the end of the series. Marvel doesn't have too many books that experiment with new characters. I know Avengers Academy isn't a top seller, but Marvel can't rely too heavily on established characters in all their books. They need some titles to test the waters with new characters and Gage has done a great job of doing that with Avengers Academy.

so who are they gonna meet up with after this? The Young Avengers or the Initiative?

they have already met the Runaways and will have already met the New X-Men. so the YA and Initiative are the only teams left I can think of.

Well... I suppose they could meet with X-23's old crew, NYX. But I would hardly call a meeting with NYX "long-anticipated"

Oh, wow. This sounds like everything I've wanted from the book. And to think I was prepared to drop it after AvX.
    August can't come fast enough.

They've already met some Initiative kids. They're either students at the Academy or sellouts working for Briggs.

I hope the book gets a new direction afer this, I mean a new mission statement. I want the kids to not be a ticking time bomb, I feel like now is the time for them to be cured or killed off and move on. I love this book, hope this new arc is good.

Well if this is their final exam, will those who make it be full-fledged superheroes now?
Maybe they can mentor the other students and take them on adventures. I'd love to see these kids get away from the school more often.

And the "sellouts" (FYI) were Prodigy, Could 9, Komodo & Hardball; with the Rocket Racer & Machine Teen joining Jeremy's "team" within Issue #26.

.....Still, ought to be interesting who else Jeremy has "recruited" as well......

    Same here.

I just realized that if the title of Avengers' next arc was "all the Avengers disassemble and die" I wouldn't bat a lash....... ;_; Academy, you keep me young and naive.

But man, I'm so excited for this title to change things up I can't wait!!
