I agree with both statements. Somehow I'm not really happy with Marcus To being on THIS book...

Maybe it's his style being too "clean and pretty" or maybe it's just the fact that he totally forgot how Batwing's chest logo actually looks. I can understand it being different on the new armor (although hardly - he's a new hero, why suddenly change the logo?), but it's also drawn different on the page where David is standing in front of his old armor. Plus hey, they kept outlines of the old logo in David's narrative boxes! The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that it's just Marcus To's (and editor's) mistake... and quite a big one.
Besides, To's Batwing is a tiny bit too bulky (just like in JLI)... Or maybe it's the fault of new armor?

When it comes to the action, I quite enjoyed it. Matu was great, as was David. I hope he doesn't get accustomed to Gotham too easily; I want him back in Africa, please!

I've posted on my blog what I think of Batwing, still I gotta say this issue was really enjoyable and I might just give the series another chance!

I agree with you about Nightrunner and think he should be used more in DCnu, but hopefully not a the expense of Batwing. I would love to see Nightrunner guest star in several issues of Batwing and of course he will be in Batman INC. I always thought that Justice League International should use a rotating cast of Bat characters depending on the country/continent they are in. This concept would fit the international aspect and allow the team to have variant Bat characters like Black Bat, Nightrunner, Knight/Squire, Batwing, etc.

Another good issue. To's art was nice but doesn't come close to Oliver. I love how Lucius is now being written similar to how he is in Nolan's Bat films. There has to be some explanation as to how the Bat family gets all their toys. Also loved how David as Batwing got to smack that scumbag Prime Minister. Somali pirates on the horizon.

I really hope this Owls crossover brings more readers to this consistently great book.

The "Night of the Owls" falls on Batwing #9 during his visit to Gotham. This guy cannot catch a break! But Marcus To's amazing pencils make it an awesome and fun night in the town. Judd Winick also ensures you dont have to read every Bat-book to understand what's going on.

I hadn't planned on buying this, but when I ended up buying all of the other NOTO issues, I said, what the heck? Glad my shop still had some copies on hand.

I hadn't read this book since #1, but was pleased that I was able to follow this story without any problem. Also didn't realize that this was To's first issue on the book. I like his work a lot; he did an excellent job on the late, lamented Red Robin book.

I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed this issue. Not a classic or anything, but a fun story nonetheless. I may have to take another look at this in the future.
