Yes, Chaos is the personification of primordial reality, that does not preclude that he has sentience.

And what are Eru's best feats if I may ask?
I'm no LOTR buff, but I believe he sang the Universe into being. Which proves that he can 1) Do things and 2) Can actually think, which Chaos cannot do.

If you're personified as a primordial embodiment of existence, how are you not in the least a bit sentient? Think Azathoth for a bit.

It's kinda hard if not nigh-impossible to injure something that embodies the void of nothingness, but seeing as Eru is arguably omnipotent anyway, he should win or at least stalemate. Other than that, Greek mythology seems to have way too many abstract/cosmic-level beings and other heavy-hitters for rest of the LotR-verse to deal with.

Again, personification does not equal sentience. Show me a quote from the Classics that has Chaos doing anything apart from just being an eternal void from which Gaia springs from. Seriously, show me anything. One action that shows that Chaos can even rationally think and I will be very impressed.

No feats, no power, no win.

I don't know, Eru could feasibly... I don't know, construct another Universe inside Chaos? That should shut him up.

How long did it take Eru to sing the universe into existence? Was it just that he begins singing and bam, instant universe? Or was it left vague enough that it's impossible to know with any certainty?

A woman can move a lot faster with her skirt up than a man can with his pants down.

I don't know if I can actually find any true quotes of Chaos doing anything in action (then again I don't often read the ancient Greek-Roman texts outside wikipedia myself).

The thing is it's kinda tricky or awkward to actually make a real story/myth with something as abstract or primordial Chaos with the same length and development of plot as your famous mythical heroes like King Arthur, Heracles, Odysseus, Cu Chu Lainn, Robin Hood, Paul Bunyan, etc. I realize that this may not have much relevance to battle, just stating possible reasons as to why Chaos doesn't get seen much in action.

But then again Eru doesn't get involved too much in the LotR stories (I think). But that doesn't mean we should count him out of an all-out universe battle unless the OP states we should.

I already did say Eru could win or stalemate, so...

Though it doesn't detract from my opinion that nothing short of someone or something like God/a true omnipotent or an ridiculously powerful nigh- omnipotent/creator-being can do anything to permanently affect much less easily beat/overcome something as abstract or primordial as the Greek-Roman manifestation of Chaos himself.

that said, I gotta go to class and attend a flute session. Won't be back to talk for several hours later.
