    Default R.I.P. Tony DeZuniga (allegedly)

According to unconfirmed reports, Tony DeZuñiga has passed away at the age of 71. If this is true, it's a sad loss to the comics community.

I really didn't find anything of his death, where did you read or hear this from?

But I did come across this nice interview

That's about the only source I could find, so this news should be considered unconfirmed. We can only hope that it's a false report.

There hasn't been any additional confirmation of Tony DeZuñiga's alleged death, and the person who wrote that blog post has updated it to say that the report of his death may have been false. I wonder if this person might have just misinterpreted one of the news stories that said he was in critical condition.

So at present, it appears that Tony DeZuñiga is still alive. Sorry for spreading misinformation.

A real bummer that he won't be at the San Diego Con again year, along with Alex Niño and Rudy Nebres.

Just found out some more info about Tony DeZungia on the Comic Art Community website (full article here). Apparently he has suffered a stroke and is in critical condition. His wife reports, "The stroke damaged the brain. it has bleeding inside and they need to open up the brain but with so much medication they were able to stop the bleeding but the brain was swollen so they need to take the pressure out so they need to insert a tube to release the pressure but since I don’t want them to open up it created an hernia. His condition is so unstable."

Very sad indeed. I hope he recovers but it sounds like a pretty bad situation to me.
