Default Why is Wolverine portrayed to be a guy woman would like?

I'm pretty sure most girls would think he's a creeper in a real life situation. The only kind of woman I could see him with are methheads and strippers. Not only does he look dirty, but he has a terrible personalty.

He conveys a certain level of animal intensity. He's going to do you very hard. It's going to be rough. And dirty. It's a thing that people fantasize about. Mostly methheads and strippers, sure, but still.

He's not dirty. He's just not a stupid metrosexual. He's not unattractive. Except for the height, I think Hugh Jackman was spot on for him. Jackman sure does alright with the ladies.

Sure, there's his personality, but that is overcome by his personality.

Then you haven't been reading X-men comics for very long. He was originally very short. Basically only Puck was taller than he was, and everyone made fun of Logan for being short. And he was also very hairy. He was built and looked more like Gimli than Aragon.

There have been a lot of different iterations of Wolverine. In general, however, he's supposed to be pretty short and not especially attractive, but possessing a certain animal magnetism that some women quite like.

Hugh Jackman is as metrosexual as it gets. Have you ever seen him outside of the X-Men movies on Broadway? I'd say that the original version of Wolverine was unattractive physically (short, hairy and musclebound) for the most part but women don't put as much emphasis on attractiveness as men. Some women just seem to like the idea of the animal side of him. I personally think that likely makes him a crappy pretty unimaginative lover myself - all power no finesse but hey whatever. That always seemed to be Jean's thing though but she seemed to realize for the most part that also made him unfaithful, unstable, and always running off to do his thing eventually.

Look at it this way. Logan has been with a lot of MU women because of his popularity with the writers but the fact is he doesn't stay or even end up back more than once with any of them. He was engaged to Mariko but cheated on her with Mystique, no matter who he's been with, he's happy to go after Jean if she is around. As Melita noted in his own book finally, he's a serial cheater.

For all the grief Gambit gets about being a "womanizer" and "cheat" because he's a flirt (though if Rogue flirts that's not cheating), he's got nothing on Wolverine. Gambit's gone from single playing around to a pretty darn faithful boyfrind - as in if he cheated it was barely once or twice in decades of stories and not once because he was chasing after another woman or out looking to cheat (despite that most of that time he wasn't getting any from his girlfriend). The ladies threw themselves at him not the other way around. Wolverine despite being attached has done both over and over. None of that is going to change. It seems most smart women see Wolverine as a one time fling to get that animal thing once and never look back at him long term with good reason. Wolverine doesn't "get" the girl. He usually forgets them actually or they end up dead before they realize he's never going to be around all the time or faithful in the case of Mariko seem fine with it but I see that as an exception not rule.

ugh. too late. I wrote that before reading your post. It was meant as a reply to the OP, not as a snippy comment to what you wrote.

no they pretty much have little in common. Comics Wolverine is 5 foot 3. Hugh Jackman is around 6 foot something. The builds of their bodies is different. And Wolvie has some very unique facial hair

    Because he's Hugh Jackman.

Actually, he's manly, has 100 years plus sexual experience and he'd kill for his friends. What's not to like?

He's a bad boy. That's as simple as it gets. For reasons we simply cannot understand, women have a thing for bad boys. It's not fair. It's not logical. And it's just plain wrong most of the time because more often than not, Wolverine hurts or screws over the women who are willing to be intimate with them. But that's just not enough to dissuade them. I think it's pretty asinine, but unfortunately it has some real life parallels. Bad boys may be among the worst human beings on the planet, but they still find a lot of beautiful women willing to sleep with them. It is proof that evolution is a flawed process.
