Jean Grey was always real. It just shows that her bloodline is very special that her Super duper great old grandma was able to harness phoenix way back when. This connection will probably show why the phoenix can locate Jean grey and her bloodline very easily.

Remember in the AOA universe it was explained that the Phoenix was Mutant Alpha, an ancient mutant, and that Jean is a descendent of this mutant.

Also, we already knew that Jean was always a type of Phoenix because Morrison established that she has a mutation that makes her a Phoenix and that she is a White Phoenix of the Crown.

She even stated on panel in Endsong that she was always a Phoenix.

And of course Claremont showed the Phoenix in her mind when she was a pre-teen.

That is not entirely true. The exact wording was "I am you don't you remember" and "Because you and I are one". The Phoenix used Jean Grey's thoughts and soul as a template when it copied her thus it takes on her characteristics when it tries to appear in human form. Jean Grey is Phoenix only because the Phoenix copied her. They both share the same memories and feelings. When the Phoenix says this longing I feel belongs to you it's because it copied Jeans feelings and memories in the Phoenix Rising Saga. That's also why it's obsessed with Cyclops because it imitated Jean completely.

Endsong is a bad example. That's how Warsong fits into Endsong.

Well that can be explained when it came to Jean it copied her likeness. Her great grandma may not have had a compassionate personality and thus only had her as a template before. Maybe when the phoenix got to Jean finally that her compassion was new and interesting and thats why it copied it as a new template.

Here's what you do to fix the Endsong and Warsong continuity problem...toss both books in the trash and don't look back. Simple, isn't it? Neither was ever established as "hard" CANON and have been ignored by every single X-Writer since then. Both of those books were just a marketing gimmick that mushed together bits of the X-Men 3 movie, Grant Morrison's New X-Men, and used the Astonishing X-Men cast.

Nope, the PF never bothered to copy any of it's other hosts. Jean Grey was the first time it did this. IRRC It was an exceptional circumstance cause Jeans corpse was too damaged to use and it wanted to experiment with human sensation.

It went from wordy, poorly paced but deconstructive character/mythology hypostases to a Rogue-centric Academy X redux.

Thank god Gillen picked up and improved upon where Carey left off.

    And wtf @ Rogue's hair.

It's just a little slow and was circling before the summer event. I think post-AvX it will pick up.

Jean may or may not be one with the Phoenix (she is) but regardless, Emma isn't a true Phoenix at all.

    You mad?

A real Emma fan wouldn't be.
Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

In Phoenix Endsong #3, Wolverine asks Jean if she is Jean or the Phoenix.

Jean replies "I am always Jean and always the Phoenix".
