I had a sneaking suspicion Felicia might beat Gwen. She wont that poll earlier and is more current (being alive is almost cheating, really), plus, people are attracted to that type of character. It's the same reason why Mary Jane gained her following and people still want J Jonah Jameson ranting about Spider-Man long after any intelligent rational human being would have. They bring "excitement". As Chris Rock said, "There ain't nothing more excitin' than a bad relationship".

EDIT: In a almost completely unrelated controversy, Johnny is too high. Several other characters should have beaten him. As a supporting Spider-Man character, he doesn't bring much to the table, IMO.

It seems that there's a slight consensus that Johnny Storm is Peter Parker's best male friend.

Felicia Hardy's ranking undercuts one argument for bringing back Gwen Stacy- that she's the only who could compete with MJ. The poll seems to suggest that Black Cat might still have a better shot.
I don't think so. Felicia, even when she was the main love interest, was always very clearly a mistake for Peter. His wants and desires never matched up with hers, and he wanted her to be something she had no desire to be. Felicia is still one of the four great loves, of course, and can, in a limited fashion, compete with Mary Jane, but I don't think without significant changes Felicia can ever truly win. Then again, considering they already just redid her character on a whim, meh, maybe they could.

Just because you're upset that Gerry Conway made this decision around 40 years ago to toss Gwen off the bridge and promote MJ to primary love interest of the franchise doesn't mean you should ignore something that is otherwise impossible.
I just want to reiterate, there's never going to be "the next big love interest". no one can compete with the history at this point.

Wow, Felicia beating Gwen. Somewhere out there the Black Cat is purring.
