    Default Max one stat.

There's some pretty standard RPG stats:
    • Strength
    • Defense
    • HP
    • Speed
    • Luck
    • Intelligence
    • Charm

The Gods....or God.....or nothing decides one day that you can now max one of your basic stats out.

Whichever stat you picks gets an increase to crazy fooking levels.

If you take strength then you get class 100 str.

If you take defense your skin becomes akin to whatever charm in Exalted makes something impossible to damage ( I know there has to be one )

If you take HP then you can be hurt but it takes a metric ton of actual damage to put you down. Think Alucard style regeneration.

    That sorta thing.

    What do you pick?
    Siriel:
Transient just likes to do that.

Why he keeps picking up ridiculous arguments and then try to defend them, I will never know.

Luck would be an obvious one.

INT, speed, or Charm would depend on whether this is a video game style RPG where those have very limited use outside of combat, or a P&P RPG where those would be completly broken outside oof combat.

This being Khazan, we traditionally blame the Plot Gods.

I'd agree, except I can't think of any RPG where putting all your points in Luck would achieve much.

GURPS. You get Luck, Super Luck and Serendipity a few levels, and Nothing's going to bother you for the rest of the game.

With enough Int most of the other stats become fairly irrelevant.

If INT is used for more than Powering your Magic spells, then possibly.

You don't need magic to get use out of transcendent genius.

Intelligence, obviously. Then I could just find ways to mimic the other stats.

The point is, In Final Fantasy, and other Similar RPGs, all raising your Intelligence stat will do is give you more damage to spells and stuff that runs on your INT score.

If you include CRPGs, Morrowind was pretty good about making Luck useful. Pretty much affected every skill, plus significantly affected items found in random loot.

Similarly Fallout did a good job with Luck, making it harder for people to hurt you, and increasing your chances for good loot and criticals.

Luck is pretty badass. I'd find money everywhere, win contests, cars, houses, hardly lose at games of chance, narrowly avoid death every time like Hitler. Probably never break a single bone in my body, always critical strike my opponents with the most absurd attack moves, (wooden spoon) and it just magnifies my other skills by crazy amounts.

If str, speed, ect give decent durability and reaction feats they might be worth it. Int if not bound to real world science and not just, discovering maybe 1 or 2 breakthroughs like dark matter or hyperspace travel might still be useful.

Luck could be crazy broke and I think is the top min/max stat for a lot of people in many games. It's like making Fate your personal 8itch. It sucks not to have luck or small amounts, but it doesn't suck when you have all the luck in the world and all you touch turns to gold, even when you screw up.

    Luck is all i'd need.

Why would i need to be strong when my hits "crit" all the time?
Why would i need to be tough when my opponent never hits me?
Why would i need to have regen when i never get hurt or sick?
Why would i need to be fast when anyone after me always trips?
Why would i need to be smart when i can get virtually any answer right by guessing?
Why would i need to be charismatic when i can get lucky?
Yeah I give up. They would need like a bajillion UNs to take it out. And they would all have to work.

You didn't mention what Intelligence, Luck, Charm and Speed does.

In particular, Intelligence, Speed, and Luck. Because they might be a whole lot more important than the rest of the stats combined.
