That was because 90% of what he promised wasn't in the game though, like..had he not promised a bunch of stuff and then not delivered, it wouldn't have mattered.

Flying in Superman 64 isn't nearly as hard as people think it was.

Game still sucks, but it isn't impossible by any means.

Well, I'm not going to defend Molyneux. I would've back when Fable 1 was released ... but then Fable 2 came out and pretty much erased any respect I had for him. All I'll say is that I put down most of the criticism of those "promises" to the fans rather than Molyneux.

I'm really enjoying this thread by the way, Alex. Much less pessimism than most places on the internet.

I'm a big fan of using the internet to trash things, i thought we could use some positivity.
And on that note, my next game.

So, this one might be cheating, here's the story on Nier.
Nier is liked by a lot of people, now, but when it came out, it got saddled with some horrible reviews. A few of the most famous of these negative reviews focused on totaly optional parts of the game (fishing, in one) and showed that the guy doing the review had a total lack of understand of the game before trashing it (IE, he went to the wrong place despite the correct place being marked on his map with an X).
Nier wasn't a new thing in combat, you hit the button and killed things. Nier wasn't the prettiest game on earth, looking more like a higher res PS2 game than a Ps3 or 360 game.
But what Nier had going for it was a really really good story, that was very different from other things we were seeing. It had good characters, which (showing my own bias!) has been really hard to pull off in japanese rpgs latetly. You weren't a young boy chosen by fate to save the world from ultimate evil, you were a dad trying to save his daughter who was dying from a mysterious illness (well...sort of, the games plot went all kinds of crazy places).
It did have some variety in the game play, being a third person action game certain parts would turn into sort of overhead shooter. Some dungeons were kill the monster, get the key, some were entirely based on puzzle solving that used the game mechanics in clever ways.

Like i said at the begining, a lot of people liked it, but it got crapped on out of the gate by people who didn't really play it.

Yes but a lot of people didn't like it or didn't really get it. They didn't like how you had to poke around to find out what certain characters really wanted and they didn't like how you could miss a lot of the story if you weren't careful, especially if you don't get enough influence with certain characters. Also, a lot of people hate Kreia. Heck, a lot of people don't really seem to even understand Kreia and think that she's just an evil Sith who wants to destroy the Force.

Not so much a game but an entire system. the 3DS has been pretty much dogged out up until recently, but this little system has been kicking ass and taking names so far. and resident evil revelations was a real RE game, kid icarus was awesome, super mario 3D land was awesome, Mario Kart 7 was awesome. i can't wait for heroes of ruin.

It hasn't been hated since the price dropped, stomping the shit out the Vita currently.
So, nintendo has fallen into it's traditional role on the portable market of totaly dominating everyone else despite lesser tech.

Secret of Evermore is the most underrated RPG I can think of. Good call.

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter got a lot of deserved hate, but there are hardly any games like it, and the New Game Plus feature which expanded on the story, plus the D-Ratio constantly making you live in fear of using too much power, made, what I feel, to be one of the stronger RPGs on the PS2.

(I would still very much like a sequel to Breath of Fire IV, though)

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is fun game that gets quite a lot of hate.

Yeah, it's a bit buggy and the controls are simplistic but it's still tons of fun playing around in a dstructive 3-D environment with a selection of Marvel characters. And it's the first fighting game I've seen that's open about the characters being unbalanced because it's being true to the source material and I liked that. I just love playing as Magneto and burying Human Torch under a pile of debris until the little bastard's dead.

I hated the Draw system (the gameplay in general was really bad), the story, and characters.

The music was great, but it definitely wasn't enough for me to waste too much time with the game.

I like systems that are easily broken, it's a thing i have that probably comes from years of playing pc games, so because of that, i liked it.
And i don't recall even using draw much, i just refined items.
