If the rest of these vs issues are going to be as rediculous as this one.....oh boy.
What makes this so disappointing is not necessarily the outcome of the fights, though the Thing vs Namor one was particularly puzzling, it's the inconclusiveness. We're reading this crap for inventive fights and actual wins.
Y'know, when they were interviewing for this, the original Avengers vs X-Men was brought up, with the criticism being the actual fights were short, cause..y'know...there was an actual story to tell. But at least the two teams used inventive teamwork in the conflict, which is where the fun comes from. I don't know. Modern writers just don't have the skill set to write engaging fights that use creativity in a team dynamic.

Y'know... I was going to attempt to explain something here, but now that you mention it... lol

It made complete sense when I read it at the time, but upon reflection -- o_0

And, it's not even the fact that he could feel the destruction of surrounding planets caused by the Phoenix that's perplexing because it makes sense - if it was at all possible. But, how and why overcompensate just to fight Iron Man? lol

Oh, well, old-school fun I guess.

"surrounding planets"? Think about that for a moment. The average distance between the Earth and Mars is 225 million kilometers. Pluto is roughly 5.7 billion kilometers away. The Phoenix isn't even in the milky way galaxy right now. It's incredibly insane that Magneto can sense anything using his own power unaugmented by tech.

I kinda thought that the Phoenix was pretty close - probably because of the anticipation. But, yeah, I can't believe I fell for for it while reading it. lol

I was originally just looking at it from the simple perspective of having gained some magnetic help from surrounding planets - that if one gets snuffed out - then it would result in a loss of power and perhaps control. It could be assumed that it was a reult of the Phonenix's doing.

But, the points you bring up result in a sobering reality.

If they are really using the magnetic fields of planets, that is power leagues above what Iron Man, or even Magneto has ever wielded. A fraction of that power could, in the real world, fuse every electric circuit on earth.

It's insane that a person can move metallic objects just by thinking about it.

Oh please. We're really gonna go there? Superman can fly and lift battleships, so when he uses lego vision to repair the great wall of China we shouldn't blink twice right?
Magneto has never had that level of scope with his powers, and frankly, neither has Iron man with the tech. There needs to be clear boundaries for what they can or can't achieve, lest the writers are just kids playing in a sandbox ever increasing the capabilities of "their" character to win. And if a character gets a power or tech upgrade, it's established in story. Where's Jim Shooter when you need him?

I agree. If we don't have clear boundaries of what a character can and can't do, it ruins what little suspense exists in these kinds of comics.

    Dear James Hunt,

THIS is a 5 star fight. Daredevil #7. AWESOME! Check out CBR's Brian Cronin explaining it all.

    Dear Marvel,

Please note, wrecking ball, wall, cement bricks, do NOT knock Namor senseless. They only make him MOAR ANGRY!

Holy crap! Daredevil was balls out! That's creativity right there. I wonder how that fight ended. Did Namor sense an earthquake in Atlantis, giving DD the opportunity to blindly drive a truck hauling liquid nitrogen into him?

This was a GREAT issue for Daredevil! It's been reprinted lots of times, and I highly recommend picking it up. Namor is trying to get back to Atlantis, because Krang is staging a coup in his absence -- he was suing the entire surface world. LOL! DD lost the fight, but he won in far more important ways. Check out the link I posted:

for more pages and all the stuff DD throws at Namor. Here's the classic ending, that shows, it's not who wins that is important, but how they fought.

Five stars is the highest rating that can be given, it implies that the book is comic perfection. With all due respect to the reviewer, calling this book perfection is an insult to so many good and great comics out there. This book starts by stating that the reader should look elsewhere if they want story, for me that is a lack of respect for the medium itself.

Awesome issue, although I disagreed with the outcome of the Namor vs Thing fight, this was a well drawn book. The Iron Man vs Magneto fight was well done, and neat to see each use their abilities in unique ways I've never seen before. Although it seemed Iron Man won by default. Magneto's last words were very telling as to where I think the story is going.

I was a fan of the VS series spining of the Av vs X-Men event since the first time i read about it.
So i am happy that the first issue got a five star review, maybe it is because it highlights one of the best parts in the comic books which are the fighting scenes.
I wont even read much of the review to avoid spoilers (So far i have just read Avengers vs X-Men#0 and 1,because my LCS gets the comics a few weeks after they are published.
    Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.
