Mysterio again? Come on! Please don't let this be Spider-man SD 2!
Peter Parker + ' 'with great power there must also come great responsibility '' = Spider-man

It sounds terrible. Mysterio is a normal guy not some dimension/space/time bending freak.

And are they ever going to explain how Mysterio came back from the dead or if the current Mysterio is even Quentin Beck?

I just want Mysterio to get his cape back in the 616. I know capes are considered out of style in comics these days much like undies outside of pants, but to me, Mysterio's long, flowing, purple cape is part of what always made him look and feel like a master of illusion. Anyone else agree?

A revelation happening in a comic-book rather than in mass media? Are you mad! You gotta tell everyone what happens weeks before it actually happens! That's why Thunderbolts wasn't so good, they didn't tell people they were villains before issue #1 came out!
    But seriously, damn this practice.

Well, that's Slott's job at the moment.

    But seriously, but seriously.

Seriously. We went from knowing absolutely nothing to now, IMO, knowing TOO much. Next thing you know, they'll tell us how MJ, Gwen and Aunt May react to the grown-up Peter from another universe.

Because getting pwned in one shot by Hawkeye is ht epitome of cool.
You're putting way too much stock into one scene in one comic book. Take the whole of it in. Mysterio isn't really a "hands on" type of guy usually. And if he is, there's a tremendous amount of set-up. I can guarantee that Doc Ock may have planned for the Avengers but Mysterio would've needed time and an angle to come up with. Either way, not bothered by getting trapped by Hawkeye. And if Spidey wasn't there with his "lenses", Hawkeye never would've known. Who gets pwned then? The guy who couldn't find the guy he hit.

Could not agree more. For the "Big revelations" (can this be deemed one?) they seem to go to the print media for it. While it's great for us WebHead (and in my case Fishbowlhead) fans, the hype machine knows no friends. Only spoilers.

Didn't Peter give MJ Mysterio's helmet to use as a fishbowl somewhere?

I'd like to think that more than once, that helmet made MJ's fishes look like sharks and/or Namor :3

MJ doesn't seem to have to worry about Namor. After all, he doesn't seem to care for redheads.

Well, admittedly, I am operating on the assumption that Spider-Men takes place after Ends of the Earth simply because of the order of their publication. And, considering how Mysterio is the big bad in Spider-Men while he's currently a member of the Sinister Six in Ends of the Earth, it again would make sense that Spider-Men takes place sometime after Ends of the Earth as well.

Well, it's better than him being an undead agent of Hell as depicted in Peter David's short-lived Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

However, there is a possible explanation that's already been set-up for how Mysterio could have traveled between dimensions. Remember the three-part Spidey/FF team-up in ASM #658 to 660? The FF went to the Caribbean into investigate the source of inter-dimensional anomalies that have been popping up all over the world and found both the Chameleon and Mysterio there (used as a distraction to lure the FF away from the Baxter Building so the rest of the Sinister Six could steal something from there) and that they had, in their possession some sort of inter-dimensional device which malfunctioned and temporarily caused the various members of the FF and Spidey to become alternate versions of themselves.

So here's the theory I'm going on: Mysterio, towards the Ends of the Earth, betrays Doc Ock, saying he was really after his tech all along, and escapes using the inter-dimensional transporter--only to wind up in the Ultimate Universe by accident and back during the time before the events of Ultimate Spider-Man Annual #3 (which was his first appearance in the Ultimate Universe), taking his time to basically amass his resources and improve upon his technology over several months. So by the time of Spider-Men, Mysterio is now a far more experienced and deadlier opponent than he was when Spidey last encountered him during Ends of the Earth, since while only a few weeks would have passed from Spidey's perspective, Mysterio will have had almost a year's worth of preparation.

And are they ever going to explain how Mysterio came back from the dead or if the current Mysterio is even Quentin Beck?
I think Dan Slott answered that question by simply saying that it's Mysterio, the Master of Illusion, and that faking his own death is par for the course.

Slott's answer has been that Mysterio is the master of illusion. Anything that happens with the character (death, demons) can't be taken at face value.
