i was getting sick of him but i like the new direction as a symbiote hunter. it makes the most sense given how he began. it's all that was really left for the character. true redemption doesn't work for me because Brock was kind of a bad seed/sleazebag. but him doing awful things for what he percieves to be a good reason makes sense. he's an "ahab" now.

Eddie was being a complete moron this issue though I still enjoyed it overall.
Circle of 4 had it split up and combined with x-23 clones who worked for a demon, its prolly pissed off at everything now!

Hate to be unsympathetic to Eddie's cries at the end about being bonded to another symbiot but, he did it to himself. If he hadn't interfered with Flash by attacking him, he wouldn't have ended up webbed to that beam so they could bond him to Toxin.
Holding out for a Peter/Miles team up.

Really liked this issue, glad to see the comic start to get back on track after that Las Vegas event made me consider dropping it. I'm going to miss Kev Walker on the book, but I guess he'll be back to Thunderbolts, so I can deal with it, even if I don't really care for Medina's style (too clean).

Looking forward to the next issue a lot, especially since I'm tired of the secret identity stuff between Flash and Betty.

Excellent setup issue for the big battle with the Savage Six. I really hate these guys and want to see them get their asses kicked!

It would seem as though Flash is edging towards more of a superhero than a soldier mindset, seeing as how he hesitated to take out Crime Master. Wonder if that's where Remender is going with this.

Well, I'll grant that the fact something bad might happen to Eddie was foreseeable and his own fault. But that the consequences would directly be his own, very-specific personal Hell might be a bit of a stretch to predict.

True enough! I felt bad for Eddie. Dude's mentally ill, and he genuinely thinks he's doing right by God and the world.

He was an anti-hero, leave him an anti-hero. Why is everyone going on about redemption of every character?

Anyway, it was funny that Crime Master had a pit full of radioactive spiders.

I'd say that it's quite a bit of irony that he ended up in that position. My only wonder there is, why does Eddie look like such a hulking monster in that form? Never really been much of a fan of when the symbiots get like that.

As I recall, the Toxin symbiote alters between a slimmer, more Spider-Man like physique, and the more monstrous form, depending on the situation.

Another great issue. Flash keep sinking deeper and deeper into a world of hurt. Love the conclusion with Eddie bonding with Toxin. The Savage Six arc is going to be massive!

Yep, that was the case, but obviously the powers that be, have decided to make Toxin just another evil Venom/Carnage clone. A shame given the potential, its creator Milligan seemed to pushing it toward a grey moral area, with it having a distinctive personality and being willing to blackmail it previous host to get what it wants but not exactly wanting to be evil.

Totally forgot to talk about this issue.

This issue made me mad, but not because it was bad, because Eddie Brock makes me mad. He's not acting on logic, he's not acting on emotion, he's acting on being ****ing crazy. A man like that should not be free. I also really don't understand why Flash doesn't just TELL the Avengers. Sure, he doesn't tell the army because the army has rules and regulations and stuff. Fine. Secret Avengers have none of that. He tells them "hey, Crime Master knows who I am and threatened my family, we should take him out." And BAM. They take him out. Also, Venom being the symbiote guy we saw is the single most disappointing person they could have revealed him as. I just...don't find it interesting.

But meh, still a good issue overall, I suppose. Just not great for me.

    VENOM #17

    LIKED
~the great cover a lot, lot, LOT! Reflections on the bullets was cool (& a nice twist to the classic with Hulk reflecting off Logan's claws)
    ~Flash's character narration
    ~continuity with SA status
    ~multiple interesting subplots continued
~the Savage Six concept (be neater if CM makes a comment of comparison to the Sinister Six for name choice) and D-listers as choices
    -Megatak power
    ~Fly dialogue
~anticipation of whether he would pull trigger or not
    -action & layout artwork
    ~Eddie's cruel but dramatic transformation
    ~the issue overall!

    DISLIKED
~vague segue and actual method of cellphone transport
~no exploration of Eddie's POV from psycho Anti-Venom to selfless Spider Island hero to ruthless anti-every symbiote
~no details on how CM got/domesticated the symiote (Is it formerly Toxin the title character?)

    LIKED & DISLIKED
~mention of The Hood's undead gang (of 12?) vs the Punisher footnoted to that displeasing DR crossover arc with Punisher's title... but hate, hate, HATE the casual, matter-of-fact implication that they are still up and running when AFAIK they only had 24hrs to live is they failed to kill Frank. It was bad enough Robbins managed to easily do better what The Hand have spent decades trying to master with bring back the dead w/original spirits. Total missed opp to share what everyone was thinking their (writers and supervillains)!
