Default Barry Allen and Hal Jordan's first appearances on comixology are $2 a piece

That's a little expensive, no? I kind of want to explore their pre-crisis selves but having to put down 2 bucks each to start off and 2 dollars each for every issue after that is a bit more than I want to invest in considering that would be on top of my monthly pull list.

Better value might be THE FLASH CHRONICLES and THE GREEN LANTERN CHRONICLES collections.

You want to try buying those issues as back issues at a comic book store? How much would that cost?

Comixology occasionally does 99 cent sales, I know when they did ones for the Flash and Green Lantern, those respective issues were a dollar. I would say just spend the two dollars for each one, and if you like them enough then try to figure out the best way to continue with those runs, whether it be the black and white Showcases, colored Chronicles, or continued digital.

He is actually wrong, providing you get the Chronicles volumes in a store. The first volume of each Chronicles contains six issues and retails for $15. Six issues digitally would cost you $12.

Not trying to be a jerk to Buried Alien who was just being helpful, but if you're gonna just add something that basic ("this is correct"), I feel I should chime in that it is not.

Ok, But wouldn't you rather have a book to actually read instead of the DL. I guess I'm oldschool but give me that over a DL anyday to go back and visit anytime I want.

There are other ways to read old comics if you don't want to spend $2 a pop.
