So...Hades wants to marry Diana who is his niece, since Hades is Zeus' brother and WW's father. Not sure if anyone pointed this out, but it does seem odd.

Hera, Zeus's wife, is also is his sister.... So....

Quoted for truth....
Hello everyone.
Just a warning.
This thread has the possibility of going quickly into an area that can be off topic and/or unacceptable. But I am not deleting it... yet.
As has been stated, many mythologies have "incestuous" relationships that occur between divine beings. And as Azzarello is going into an extremely mythological realm, this is bound to come up.
But please remember, this is an ALL AGES board. And the reality of incest as opposed to the allegorical use of it in mythology are two different things.
As such please refrain from making light of the subject, discussing real world cases, etc. Take an extra look at what you are saying and make sure it is appropriate for the board. If not, your post and possibly this thread will go the way of the Dodo. And by that I mean extinction.
Thank you and enjoy the boards,
Javier Velasco
In Vedic mythology, the god of the underworld, Yumi is married to his sister Yami, but Yumi refuses to consummate their marriage because they are related.
Well, this is the first time Wonder Woman's ever been in a situation where it could be applied to her. Before now, although she had attention from the male gods (Eros, Hermes), the circumstances were different. She was just another mortal to them.
Besides, Hades' current(?) wife, Persephone (anyone remember her?), is also the daughter of Zeus (by Demeter), so there is a precedent for Hades' actions.
We shall make war as we have lived our lives, as sisters of the bow. And our war shall be the war of Amazons against the race of men.
Try to bring it back to what is being portrayed in the book, as opposed to a general discussion of mythology.
Thank you
Javier
Actually, Hera is considered very beautiful in Greek mythology; she is so beautiful that she was judge to be second in beauty only to Aphrodite, but went into an envious fit with being judge in second place.
Or, are you talking about her personality? As a general matter, in my eyes, personality will usually trump beauty after a certain point; lots of women are beautiful, but it's a little more difficult to find beautiful women with a matching personality (e.g. not becoming holier than thy like, creating a shallowness about herself); although Hera does have a problem with being envious, I wonder what she'd be like if a male bathe her with compliments and attention concerning her looks and possible other positive attributes as a woman, despite his looks, if she wouldn't be persuaded as a friend with benefits? A lot of Hera's issues is the root of her being with the wrong type of man in Zeus; although discarding Hephaestus is certainly a strike against her in my eyes (Athena, as well) (but there's also an alternative version of the story), she may have a personality that matches her beauty if she had the benefit of someone who appreciated her beauty and other possible positive attributes.

HA! Awesome call.
But on topic... of course it's incest. I'm just waiting for Diana to call Ares "brother-cousin". The gods aren't human and don't seem grossed out by the mixing. I guess it's like two ideas mixing together to make a new idea, so from that perspective it's less creepy, but they ARE a literal family also, with physical bodies (though vastly different from ours structurally). I agree that if there wasn't a relative trying to get in the spangled-panties now that she's a demigod, it wouldn't feel as mythological.
Maybe the gods like people in their gene pool because they're "higher" than ordinary humans? Even the mortal conquests of the gods usually are related to them in some way. They also seem to like to piss each other off by banging each others offspring, actually...

Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.
Yes, but another famous origin is that she rose from the froth of Uranus' severed genitalia, making her more a monster like the giants and the furies, although a beautiful one.She would not be sister to Hephaestus and Ares In WW Eros called Hermes "uncle," so Heph or Ares can be his father.
