Oh for crying out loud people, lay off of Gail Simone! She's a WRITER who freelances at DC, NOT a CEO or EIC. She doesn't have a magic wand to make disgruntled readers who don't like change to feel better. Man, the things some readers seem to expect of this poor woman...
    Pull list:
Adventure Time, Batgirl, Batman & Robin, BOP, Earth 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, He-Man, Katana, Nightwing, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ultimate Spider-Man, Worlds' Finest

Outside of the OP, who has asked/expected Gail to change anything in this thread? In fact, you pretty much wrote exactly the same as Shark said, just a few posts before hand.

Well, we've only seen the preview. Perhaps the very next page shows her rescuing people. Or perhaps she already scanned the building with her x-ray vision and hearing and decided there was no one inside.

I think you may have fallen through a wormhole.

Edited to add: Nope, actually I just did. I think was posting, mid-thread merge. Weird!

It would only make sense that Gail would have some feelings for Oracle. The character was a central part in one of her most memorable series. That's a different thing from what has been speculated or supposed in regards to Gail for a long time now. Which sometimes adds up to "Gail feels like I/we do."

I'm very open when it comes to comics. Seriously, I don't think getting worked up serves any good except being mad just to enjoy being mad. That being said, I was a little put off by the switch. It felt as if the reveal was tacked on as a last page surprise. Oh, well, we move on.

That's just me, obviously. But usually if a character is dead, they just say she's dead. It's not like Karen knew Bertinelli, that Helena would have to soft-sell the death.

Maybe its possible that Helena Wayne took the identity to protect Helena Bertinelli (like she would ever need such a thing) but I suppose its possible Helena Bertinelli is alive while Helena Wayne is walking around with a target on her now. Like that Ringer show or Revenge? I think there is someone upset she's digging into their accounts and that could be those after Helena Bertinelli. She's focusing their attention to uncover who so when she does get back home, Helena Bertinelli can resume a life safe from her pursuers.

Um, doesn't the name Helena Bertinelli now have a billion dollar bounty on her head? If you're trying to protect someone, taking their name, incurring some very expensive wrath and then ditching the name cause it has too much heat is pretty much the opposite of what you want to do.

Refusing to buy a book out of principle is one thing; you certainly have every right to do that. But that isn't what I was talking about. I'm talking about the people who are already judging the content of a story they haven't read and calling it trash, insulting the creators, etc.

Number one, you're totally off base. They aren't gearing this to older readers, they're gearing it to brand new readers. Even though it is Helena Wayne, not Bertinelli, this is in no way the same character that was around in the 1970's. The Bertinelli character was a revamping of that earlier incarnation post-Crisis on Infinite Earths; this is now a second reworking of the same basic character.

Number two, I find your agism offensive and totally out of line. If the character was black, would anyone tolerate it if somebody said DC was just catering to blacks and that black people shouldn't be reading comics? Of course not! This is no different.

(Btw, don't forget to throw your comics out in the trash after you turn forty, you're not allowed to enjoy them anymore!)

I'd say it's almost certain that this woman was never Huntress. That's what I keep saying: this isn't your Huntress.

You make it sound intentional; it wasn't. They changed directions mid-stream. Obviously they didn't have this all thought through when they began working on the DCnU.

Whether intentional or not, there's obviously a lot of room there to bring her back, if they ever decide to.

Hey, no one said it would be easy This is where its frustrating because that mini to me is clearly Helena Bertinelli. She put a target on herself and now, if the real Helena Bertinelli is alive, one on her. Or even if she isn't alive because as long as they think Helena Bertinelli (and do we know for certain they know her 'real' name?) anyone close or they might think close is now in danger. Which means that's pretty shitty to do that then burn the alias like that. So, if you look at actions like that, Power Girl's concerning the device then maybe World's Finest isn't the best title.

This is why I'm not a writer. Not only the lack of talent but definitely believe painting yourself in a corner for fun is the opposite of fun.

I get that feeling as well. And sometimes her work seems half hearted, self satirical or intentionally offensive and dreary since the relaunch.

Does it really matter what Gail has too say? She has nothing to do with World's Finest or the new earth 2 book. No offense, but she's overrated as a writer. It's pretty ridiculous to want her to "save" a book that's not even out yet.

If the other Bertinelli fans are upset and refuse to buy world finest then that's on them. It's a shame they wont give the book a chance, but whatever. Despite Helena B's fate I am excited for World's Finest and how this "Huntress" will compare to the old Helena W. and Helena B Huntress.
