Ouch. I never liked that version of Huntress, but I sympathize with her fans at least.
Why?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
This is really just more backpedaling from the recent Huntress mini. It's pretty clear that when Levitz started writing that, it was supposed to be about Helena Bertinelli. Then, soon after he started, it was decided to make Huntress Helena Wayne instead. So, he kind of explained at the end of the mini that Bertinelli was just an identity she adopted. This takes it a further step and says there had once been a real Helena Bertinelli. Sort of like Matches Malone.

You know, I was okay with Helena Wayne taking back the role of the Huntress. Back when I thought Earth 2 was the old Earth 2. But since it isn't, I feel like I've lost a favorite interpretation. Oh well, hope this one is a great.
Hmm. It's only a couple of pages but there's more to dislike than like so far. The aforementioned fate of Helena B. And Karen's immediate reaction to a burning building is to ask if a piece of equipment is safe?
Still, we ain't seen it all yet so the jury remains out.

Probably a good call by DC. This prevents there from being another Huntress on Earth-Whatever. I thought the concept worked best when Huntress was a character unique to Earth-2, even though I personally grew up with the Bertinelli Huntress.
Helena Wayne was my first introduction to the character and I loved her. Hated when she died but really liked how they brought the Huntress back as Helena Bertinelli who looked like the old one enough but was even more of a kick ass. I think its probably a good call also because...
Of this! One problem with that is it creates division. Some fans of Helena Bertinelli will not accept Helena Wayne of Earth 2 as the true Huntress and DC needs all fans of the Huntress to rally around this one. That's not to lable just that side because there exist some who felt the opposite and have never accepted Bertinelli. Of course I guess you could say no one side won. Now, its not what I would have preferred by a long shot but I've said before I don't like reading something as I would have wanted it. I'm open to the writers winning me over again. Or not.
Yeah, that much I figured. But she was Supergirl back on Earth 2, right? You'd think those heroic tendencies would kinda be second nature. I know one of the blurbs/solicits for this issue asked the question, "And what incident prompts her to take up her new identity of Power Girl?", but I figured that was just referring to the costume and the name, rather than her attitude in general.

I'm just saying that this was the writer who gave the former Huntress a purpose and a more in-depth Personality. However, now thanks to the reboot, we got no Oracle, at least one with less of an impact in the DCU and a reborn Batgirl in Barbabra Gordon.
Also we got the originally Daughter of the Batman from Earth-2 again, but we lost the old Huntress that replace her.
Seriously, where is Simone in on this speaking out about it since most of her success and work from DC came from these two characters and Black Canary of Birds of Prey.![]()
