Anything else makes them detractors, in my opinion. We end up with stuff like Amazons Attack and now this crap. Just let them be! I say.
That's how I sort of saw the Amazons pre-Crisis. I've called them the staff at the Paradise Island resort she occasionally visits. But it seems that's not how many want them to be. Just consider exactly how much panel time they've gotten in eight issues and the scores of posts focused tightly on those panels. To me, I didn't see what the issue with saying people couldn't imagine Diana without them since that seems to be what all this attention is showing. I know some like to toss out hive-mind thought but its not hive-mind since there are other issues detractors have but... and this was my point... but its the single element of the Amazons that seem to be a make or break point. I think I started this with saying only Wonder Woman of the Trinity requires an entire island to be heroic. Of course that is a silly outlook to me since I considered them the staff of a resort but I was just struck how there are many things to like or hate about the current run but do not cross the line with the Amazons. For some, they must or should remain portrayed in a certain fashion.

Heck, I have far far more problems with the loss of her invisible jet than what's occurred to the Amazons. Now that's something that has existed since creation and it was tossed aside (and we still haven't seen it in this run). No matter how anyone may feel about the Amazons currently, they aren't static. They still exist and thus can take different paths. They, as characters, should be used in whatever way that increases the value of story of Diana herself. She is the focus and should be. When people start to feel this one element is so important then yes, her status as a hero looks a little lessen to me if you can't strip them away from her in any way. Perhaps this is why there's this dislike of the getting rid of them over the years to the point I think people are reacting to them as if I would expect them to if they changed Diana's sex. And not saying its all elements detractors agree on just this one. It just struck me if someone dislikes the current run, the Amazons were the one single thing all agreed upon.

Well, you're nicer than I am - that someone saved better at least buy me dinner!

I'm with Gael, but how about the reverse question? Say Wonder Woman loans you her lasso. Would you trade it to Hades for the lives of your best friend and your unborn sibling?

Whether one likes the nu52 or not, I think we're witnessing a different approach moving forward. The comics business is living on borrowed time while competing with technology. They can not afford the luxury of desperately seeking alternate radical means of achieving success.

Let me just put it this way; I think someone needs to start taking a serious look at movie blockbusters and how to achieve them. God only knows Marvel is, and succeeding at it for the most part. The Avengers alone must've raked-in about 10 years worth of comics at cover price just on the 1st day of its release.

Can't make Wonder Woman interesting on film? I'd say they'd better keep trying! Worked with Batman!
Yeah, sadly this market has been building towards it's own destruction for awhile now. I'm glad DC has finally made some strides into digital (even though I don't buy digital as I already spend too much time tied to electroics). Not sure why they've been so slow on the movies while Marvel is making a ton of $$$. DC/WB also needs to get on the ball in non-Batman video games. At least they have some good cartoons with Young Justice and GL. I still say they should go all My Little Pony style with a WW cartoon; I mean, she is a stary princess from a magical kingdom. She'd be right at home with cuteness overload.

I'm not sure how, but I'm pretty sure this is all Slvn's fault for supporting these bad bad Amazons we have now.

No way. I'd tie him up and take over the joint.
