Thanks, I had some time to waste and I liked how it turned out.
Yeah, I guess.
Let me clarify this: I don’t think Snyder’s Batman is a bad book... I do think that it’s an incredibly schizo book. For every single thing that is impressive, ingenious and interesting, there’s something equally stupid or corny that makes it an incredibly uneven book.
In the end, the only way I can fully enjoy this book it’s by not taking it seriously. I treat it like Chuck Austen’s X-Men (blasphemy). Yes, Austen’s X-Men sucked an impressive amount of ass, but only if you take them seriously. If you don’t, you realize that those are some of the most enjoyably idiotic and stupid stories ever written, a laugh-riot.
My main grip with Snyder’s Batman so far is the villains, these Damn Owls. I’m sure that once Snyder will start write more “conventional” villains (I’m curious about the one in the next big arc) he will do great things, but these freaking Owls man, really, I can’t take seriously a story with these guys as the main villains.
A supershadow illuminati group of rich idiots that act like the public of a Wrestling match and command an army of undead zombie ninjas dressed up as owls that they enlisted from dead circus acrobats. WHAT? How can these clowns be a credible threat? The talons too for god’s sake… rather than deadly assassins they all act and talk like schoolyard bullies.
What distubs me the most is that everybody on the entire internet placed these Damn Owls into lists about “Best new villains” and “Best new characters”. No they’re not! They’re silly and goofy and as threatening as the freaking Clock King!
That’s my rant for today, sorry, I never had the actual possibility of doing it for myself. Remember this is all my opinion and if you enjoy Court of Owls, great, more power to you.
Damn Owls.
Could be either Batman, Animal Man or Swamp Thing for me, they vary month to month. Went with Batman as i enjoyed it the most from the #8s.
Wonder Woman would be 4th.
My top three lists consists of:
The Flash- beautiful art and intriguing story
Superman- with the latest creative team change, it really picked up
Action Comics- It's Grant Morrison, excellent story quality is to be expected
1. Action Comics
2. Batman
3. Wonder Woman.
Superman:"I'm a newspaperman; I'll take a vacation when I die."
As mentioned, he was an option on this poll (http://forums.comicbookresources.com...ch-is-the-best), but he couldn't keep up with Wonder Woman and Aquaman. If he was closer I might have included him on the poll, since some families had two out of their four books make it over to here. (Batwing was also in that same boat, but Batwoman seemed to have a sufficient lead over him in second place, 20 votes to 14.)
If the shoe fits: "a crankly old man standing just on the edge of a crowd gathered for a concert and stamping his feet yelling at the crowd to stop having fun, that they don't know what fun is."
Currently, Batman is in first place still, with 13 votes now.
Animal Man is still in second place with 9 votes, but Wonder Woman is also tied with 9 votes now.
Fourth place is Action Comics with 7 votes.
(Yet Batman was losing to Animal Man in the Thunderdome battles.)
Still gotta give it to Animal Man, though Swamp Thing is consistently neck-n-neck with it...
Animal Man, Swamp Thing, Batman and Wonder Woman are my four top books of the relaunch. The exact order shifts month to month, but those four are quite a bit a head of all the other titles in terms of quality IMO.
If you're not reading Unwritten you should be.
1. Wonder Woman
2. Aquaman
3. Animal Man
Aquaman. This book seriously needs to be double-shipped though.
New Avengers, Morbius The Living Vampire, Scarlet Spider, Iron Man, Fearless Defenders, Fantastic Four, Deadpool Killogy, Savage Wolverine, Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men & X-Force, Cable & X-Force, Gambit
