Superman is a white alien. He doesn't have to be played by an American actor.

I don't know, man. For thirty years Smallville was never said to be in Kansas. I like it being there, but it's pretty unimportant. Smallville is Smalltown, USA. Not Smalltown, Kansas.

Also, Superman renouncing his citizenship was brilliant.

I do think Superman is an American icon, and you can do a detailed analysis on how a lot of allegorical themes of America are represented in the character. But even then, there's nothing wrong with a British actor playing him if he can do it right.

Superman is 6'3", has black hair, blue eyes, fair skin and generally an athletic build and speaks with an american accent.

Good luck finding someone who can act and fulfils all those without hair dye, coloured contact lenses, lifts and a dialect coach, not that they'll probably bother with most of those after all Christian Bale didn't dye his hair or wear coloured contacts to play Bruce Wayne and he is also 2" too short but he probably did get a dialect coach.

Superman is an American citizen, sure. But how do we know what English sounds like coming from a Kryptonian. For all we know it could sound like he has a British accent.

I love the idea that someone would prefer any old American playing Superman over a British actor, even it that British actor was hypothetically better than Brando. I'm both impressed and amused by the level of patriotism.

Your name is Kal-El. You are the only survivor of the planet Krypton. Even though you've been raised as a human being, you are not one of them

Remember Superman was made by non American citizens who were always bullied around..that's why he isn't from America(from Krypton) and he fights for the oppressed
