Clark Kent - social crusader and inspiration to the people

    Clark Kent - investigative journalist

The Cape is a family heirloom (sure, it has a bit of a 'cloak of invisibility' feel to it but I like that direct link to the House of El (although I wonder if Zor was ever jealous of the fact that Jor inherited it instead of him...))

The Golden Age, Chaotic Good attitude Superman has. Superman as the champion of the oppressed, not a tool of the status quo.

    The "working man" costume.

    The Kryptonian costume.

The new takes on Brainiac and Metallo.

Superman being naturally more intelligent due to his status as an alien. He shouldn't just be a human with super-powers, but a different kind of being--one who fights for people, but is different mentally as well as physically. He's the Man of Tomorrow, not the Man of Today.

Younger Superman. I am sad we won't get to see more of him. I like Superman with some vulnerabilities. I like him having to put some thought and effort into things every now and again.

Loved the younger, home made costume.

Superman feels young, dynamic, a champion for the smaller man rather than being seen as the government. He fights and works and bleeds hard for the world of tomorrow. Clark Kent is interesting now too, being an outgoing journalist fighting just as hard as Superman.

Oh. And he feels fun again, too.

-The fact he has been his Golden Age self at some point.
    -The T shirt look.
-The "bring it on" attitude towards adversity.
-Clark Kent as someone known for being into social stuff, and not "the guy who writes about Superman".
    -The new Brainiac.
    -The new Krypton.

Hmmm things I like about it......

    1. The Suit - It's awesome I love the weight it brings to his movements. It makes everything he does seem more super. And now now artist can make it look like Superman's suit is painted on.

    2. Younger Superman - Really love this aspect. It feels like he's your cool older brother instead of your stiff father (pre-flash point) or crazy uncle (silver age) it now feel like the fortress is your big brothers room that he told you never to go in but you want to soooo much cus you know its got all the best stuff

    3. Kent's being Dead - thank goodness they are gone. I actually really liked them being there at 1st but then it became such a writing crutch that it just go so bad if you ask me.

    4. The fact the Kent's didn't make his suit - Love it. I know it gave a nice home feel like "hey my mom made this for me" but I saw this as such a cool chance to go a little kryptonain with things but make it stand for something more while still showing that cultural pride that all I feel that all immigrants should have in some from.

    5. Power progression - this is just a fun and smart idea to first start Superman at ground level them bring him up and make all his top stuff seem so cool again like "Hey remember back we that bomb would have knocked him clear across town, now his hair slightly moves".

    6. Clark Kent - love the struggling outsider bohemian artist type (or something like it) and he's a geek!! I love that Superman's now a geek!!

I could go on and on and on. I really love this guy

The re-emphasis on champion of the oppressed, and the idea of Superman starting out as somebody who's just righting those wrongs that are ignored.

The Brainiac redesign and change in the origin of his motivation to collect.

The new touches to the Metallo origin.

Jimmy as Clark's pal rather than Superman's. I want to see more of this one, but I enjoy the idea and the chance to see them rooming together.

Social crusader is my big one. Absolutely love it. And the more rougher around the edges. I like rough edges... except on chairs.

I love the return of the Silver Age personality of Superman.
Back in the Swan/Anderson heyday, he could be a bit of a d*ck, and I like the return of the guy who brooks no fools.
Apart from the ugly suit & missing the Kents, I love what Morrison has been doing with him. Add Giffen to the fray & I expect we're in for one hell of a ride. I just wish Morrison had gotten to do Wonder Woman as well. That book is bloody awful!

#1 Superman actually seems to enjoy being Superman.

The mind shattering boredom of the marriage is over.

Jimmy and Clark's friendship as equals.

The Kent's being dead. I always preferred this as the status quo as it was pre-crisis.

No more football hero jock Clark (at least I think this is gone).

No more sterile science worshipping Krypton.
Life looks better in black and white.

The costume adapting to Clark thoughts seems much more practical than before.

The new friendship between Clark and Jimmy.
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.

    1. Not married to Lois
    2. New suit
    3. Younger Superman
    4. Dead Kents
    5. More Kryptonian than human
    6. Space-based Fortress of Solitude
    7. The fact that he's more distrusted by authority
    8. He's more a socialist crusader, 'champion of the oppressed' than boy scout

All of this and the fact that he's getting back to his outsider roots. Not only because it's cooler but it's also more heroic. Let's face it, the heart of heroism is self-sacrifice -- sacrificing personal life, personal happiness, etc -- these important outsider aspects to his character are now being brought to the forefront, that gets across, people can empathise with this, and it's something to look up to (like true heroism)

example: yes, he's alone, he's different, a stranger in a strange land but rather than allow himself to be corrupted and use his power to hurt people (like Lex and other villains) he uses his power to help people. Now that's heroic. Unfortunately, his previous incarnation camouflages this aspect too much because if he has: awesome powers, solid marriage, great adoptive parents, constant references to how 'human' he is, etc it's much harder to see the heroism because there's little, if any, self-sacrifice.

His number one motivation for fighting 'the never-ending battle' must be for his love for this WORLD. He lost his home world so he understands better than anyone how important protecting the world is -- that's the symbol for his motivation and it's good that it's being made more apparent.

Almost everything. Superman is now a young, cool, cocky Hercules who's sworn to devote his existence to helping those in need and crushing corruption. And not only that, Clark does that too now! It really ties the character together.

Also: I love that he's a bit of a geek and that he and Jim are pals now. I love that Steel is no longer tied to the 90s.
The new Brainiac and Metal-Zero are interesting even if I don't think they're the best versions of the characters.

And you know what, I'm just going to say it. I really like the new costume.

I just think that looks really slick.
