No, that was his name in the Spectacular cartoon. His name in the original comics was "Raymond Warren."

(Not that I think this will be the big thing for the anniversary issue but it's something to keep your eye on in the future.)

However, if I had to guess, it could be a story revolving around the cop who told Peter his Uncle had been killed. After all, that incident not involves THE pivotal turning point in Peter's life--the "heart" of Amazing Fantasy #15, if you will--it also sets in motion for everything that followed afterwards. After all, it's possible that cop has to live with the possible guilt of having to have told a 15-year old boy about how his surrogate father died and not knowing how that boy turned out, especially in light of issue #665 when they couldn't find Peter afterwards on that night. Not to mention, that cop could have been the first respondent to the 911 call.
It's gotta revolve around Uncle Ben in some way, shape, or form. Because that was the "heart" of Amazing Fantasy #15.

Great minds think alike. And was that the cop's actual name? I can't remember if it was mentioned in Amazing Fantasy #15 or not.
Yes, the cop's name was "Bernard O'Brien."
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

I don't know if this has been covered before but this is the perfect opportunity to ask these questions.

When will Peter die of radiation poisoning from the bite?

What ever happened to the lab that made the Spider radioactive? What was the name of the lab? What process were they doing that gave the Spider such unique abilities to pass on to Peter?

How come more people don't know about this? Why has no one ever tried to duplicate the process?

Maybe the burglar survived--he did have a heart attack in ASM 200, after all!

    Right.

Oh, it's a sure bet that it would, particularly his death. Hmm, what if it gets revealed that Bernard O'Brien was also a friend of Uncle Ben's?

Yes, the cop's name was "Bernard O'Brien."
I did not know that. And upon further checking in Marvel Database, Amazing Fantasy #15 was indeed the only issue to date he ever appeared in, even though his name was never actually mentioned in the issue itself, and yet is listed by name in the Official Marvel Handbook.

The only story I can think of that revisited the science exhibit where Peter was bitten by the radioactive spider involved The Thousand.

I'm going to be the heretic here, and state that I don't consider the New York setting to be an essential component of the series. I think the series would have been as successful even if you had set it in a fictional location, or even another real-life city like Boston. I think of the setting as flavor text, nothing more.

The other thing of note is that Slott confirmed is there's a one-shot story right before the two-part anniversary story.

    685-687: Ends of the Earth
    688-692: No Going Back
    693: one-shot story
    694-695: 50th Anniversary
    696-698: Danger Zone
    699: Dying Wish
700: Big Super Duper Spider-Man story with huge changes and may be the greatest of all things

How come there hasn't been more stories about that? I feel there can be lots of good stories mined from this

'Cause it's frickin' New York, that's why. Now get the heck outta the way, goddamn tourists. Making me late to Mass.

The Spider that bit Peter had babies before it died? The wrestling promoter is the new Kingpin of crime...

The Spider that bit Peter is still alive, and is being held in a top secret lab, as it has taken on a "human - like" form, and it just broke out of the secret lab, and is headed back to where it all began.

I think you guys are right about it having something to do with the spider and it will probably bite a young black kid giving him Spider-Man's powers.

616 will have it's Miles, which it seems like Marvel wants to make it have.

They're doing it with Fury now it's time for Miles. hopefully evil Reed is after them, because he's better than 616 Reed.

If it's about Uncle Ben, I'm sure hoping it's not going to be that proposed story from ages ago that would've revealed Ben was molesting Peter. Highly unlikely, but then again, you can never be too cautious...

From my understanding, No Going Back is four parts long, so it would be Amazing Spider-Man #688-691.

    1) Didn't he say that about 665? You know, the Betty issue?

    2) Isn't the "beating heart" of Amazing Fantasy 15....the entire saga of Spider-Man? You know, the whole, great power comes great responsibility thing. Pretty sure that has been there.

We're going to find out the secret history behind the pencil which was seen on the floor during the robbery in Amazing Fantasy #15.
