Well, the next 5 greatest Spider-Man supporting characters--according to CBR--is now up, and some of them might be regarded as interesting and rather controversial choices to be sure.

Ben Parker's been in one issue, but he's a continuing presence in Peter's life.

I like seeing Ben Reilly on the list.

Great to see Daredevil here, too. Aside from the FF and specifically Johnny Storm, I can't think of a hero who (IMO) should have closer ties to Spidey. I wish Matt knew Pete's ID again.

I was surprised Carlie was on the list.

The Uncle Ben story that is referenced was such a great issue. Although it is incorrectly referred to as Spectacular Spider-Man. It was actually Peter Parker Spider-Man (vol. 2) #33 (or 121 of volume 1 as was also on the cover).

Same here. And speaking of Johnny Storm/Human Torch, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he's in the top 10. After all, his and Spidey's friendship/rivalry is the stuff of legend.

Particularly over Norah Winters who, IMO, is a better character. (Although, I would have been far more surprised if Michele Gonzales made it to the list.)

She's above Wolverine on this list. That's what REALLY surprises me.

He's been in many flashbacks, and that one issue appearance by Parker made Spider-Man the guy we love

He must be among the top 10, I voted for him and Aunt May cause they're that important

Norah is one of the more annoying characters, never understood all the love she gets

So who does that leave. Gwen Stacy, Johnny Storm, Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson, Black Cat, Harry Osborn, Flash Thompson, Robbie Robertson, and presumably Jonah and maybe Glory Grant or Betty Brant?

Edit: And of course we could have some curve balls thrown out like a Dr. Strange or a Ben Grimm or another costumed hero.

I doubt Gwen would make it. She's been dead for over 30 years. Plus she was in less than 100 issues.

The list already has Ben Reilly (who has been dead for around 15 years now), George Stacy (who was in way less issues than Gwen and has been dead even longer) and Jean DeWolff (who has been dead for over 25 years now).

Gwen will be in the top 10.

As you can see, I left off Jean and overestimated Uncle Ben.

But that means somebody on my list is not making the top 25, which is hard to imagine.

Punisher is the one I hope I'm wrong about, but I fear it will be Betty.
