Wow, I had no idea the ST/AM crossover was going to last so long! I'm both excited and nervous now; hopefully such a lengthy story doesn't cause anyone who only reads one of the books to drop it...

I am glad I picked up Swampy. I love that the crossover is so long. Lemire and Snyder are bosses!!!! hopefully their team up will be better than their individuals....which will turn this story into EPICness

Enjoying the Swamp Thing so far, and loving the Animal Man. Both are stretching things out a bit too much for my liking, but that's modern comics for you. And though while I agree that de-powering Swamp Thing a bit is necessary (for instance: I am fine with him not being able to "teleport" across galaxies), the notion that there is a human body underneath all that moss is just unimaginative in my opinion.

"There is a human body beneath all of it so if Swamp Thing gets hit and the hit gets through his wooden armor and the cuts off his arm, he loses his human arm too."

So he can never turn back into human Alec Holland? Fine. Wood and Moss armor? Waaaay too much Thing, not enough Swamp. The Swamp Thing regenerates. Plants can grow new branches. I'm not saying that he should be Alan Moore's Swamp God. I like that he won't be regenerating from a spoor, but plant armor? I don't like this. Fun comic, but man, I really don't like that concept.

It's not really going to be a cross over though. Snyder has said a few times that the only time you really NEED to buy both titles are for the first and last issues of the cross over. The ones in the middle can be read entirely on their own.

I guess we have our confirmation that Alec will not be able to turn to Swampy and human form at will.

Very interesting that the Warrior King Swamp Thing still has Alec's body inside him and is his greatest weakness. I wonder how this weakness will play out with apparently the greatest power ever possessed by a Swamp Thing. I think we will have an arc where Alec inevitably losing part of his human body and has to cope with the notion that he is losing his humanity?

Cool interview. A most intelligent writer. Love his last comments regarding Superman. The loneliest guy on the planet. So true. Would be totally awesome to have Snyder write a Superman story!

Yeah, that is the only thing I am a little miffed at, is that Swamp Thing will not be able to do his full body regeneration anymore. I mean from what it sounds like, if he loses an arm or leg he can regrow it with plants but there just won't any human parts underneath it anymore. But the way Synder is limiting Swamp Thing he can't do any body-jumping anymore, and regrow from local plants giving all the different body variations, which almost seems unfair since Lemire basically just had Maxine do the Red equivalent of body-jumping and regrowth. It basically contradicts Moore's original retcon, in Jason Woodrue's words "you can't kill a vegetable by shooting it through the head." Except they way Synder is now writing, you can.
    *sigh*
But other than that the story and art is awesome.

I miss the hallucinogenic tubers every bit as much as I miss Swamp Thing's power to grow himself out of a bathroom sink, but I suppose that the surreal touches in Moore's run would not exactly mesh with the heroic action romp that Snyder has been building toward. It wouldn't be tense at all to see Moore's Swamp Thing suffer the cliffhanger that befell Alec Holand in his recent raid on the Rot's desert kingdom.

He is an elemental, Synder is just changing the specifics of how a typical human-based plant elemental works.
