This comic's paper stock was flimsy as hell, what did they make this issue out of tissue paper?
Pardon my digital French... but this is absolute %&^* garbage.
PULL: Hawkeye, Star Wars, Daredevil, Thor: God of Thunder, Secret Avengers
The best compliment I can say for this series is that it is a must read for the Avengers Movie. It's like a forerunner to where Samuel L Jackson's character came from, and gives us a very touching background to the origin of Phil Coulson, who spoilers:
end of spoilers. All we need is an indication of the existence of the Committee also in the movie, and we make the connection complete.
died tragically in the Avengers movie
We also get an indication of Nick Fury's mortality, but that can be easily wiped out if Nick Jnr gives senior a blood transfusion.
Battle Scars? I didn't think it fell flat. I was a severe critic of this concept that was handed down from the top, but after reading the last issue, and after watching the Avengers movie, I was stoked to read this last issue in collaboration, because the two Fury's in the book and the one in the movie, hit home nicely the way it fit. I now see where Coulson comes into the movie, and why an African American Nick Fury is in the movies. It's the best kept secret of the symbiotic mix of movies and comics being created and published at the same time, with no time delays. Well done Marvel and Marvel Productions.
I really enjoyed the series. Everything, from art to story, it was just a fun, enjoyable story to me. I cannot understand the hate associated to a minority character. So there's an illegitimate son of Nick Fury? Big deal. He didn't replace the original. He's still there and he'll probably always be here, because the way his character is, he's died a few times and always come back. Reading threads like this just make me think that anytime creators do anything different, they'll just get blasted for it non-stop. To me, we got another interesting minority character who will hopefully do some great things and amount to something other than as someone's sidekick. To me, that's pretty good.
Today, I make no demands... no threats! But, one day, I shall voice demands -- and all shall obey them!
