Btw anyone else notice how GJ uses the main villain to orphan the hero? Zoom kills Barry's mom, Black Manta; Arthur's dad. I'm waiting for the reveal that it was really Sinestro who was responsible for Hal's dads plane exploding haha
DCnU Arthur has not mentioned a son, but it'll most likely be brought up soon.

As for Johns using a villain to orphan the hero... You've only gave one correct example. Manta hasn't been proven as Thomas's killer... yet.

I think Arthur Jr is still canon, thought it hasn't been explicitly stated in the books so its still up in the air for right now. I hope the next issue expands on Arthur and Ya'wara's telepathic connection. I really an image that shows her using telepathy on jungle creatures similar to what Arthur displays over sea life. I'm curious to see where that will go. Also, does the trident have some special ability that hasn't been shown yet? All the other artifacts possess some sort of power, yet the trident just seems incredibly strong (although I guess that could be its power there).

Useally international heroes becomes walking cliches of their home country's, but so far it appears they are much more fleshed out.

On a side note, I'm digging Arthur's "old" look. Anyone else?
Same here. I love the look of young Arthur. The gold on the thighs really brings the whole look together.

    "Not better."

Haha, Mera is so awesome. I would like to see her have a solo book, where she just runs around flipping out and killing people.

With a strong story and top notch visuals, Aquaman #8 goes up there with the winners.

I enjoyed this issue. Love the younger Aquaman with the shirtless & bejeweled look, and it's exciting to see all these new characters introduced. As always, I thought the issue was decompressed and didn't accomplish enough given the pages, but that's been a common complaint with every issue of this series.

Damn Reis draws such an awesome Black Manta....That final page and #7's reveal of Black Manta were just breathtaking.

Prisoner of War is up next for Black Manta. Can't wait to see how that fight will play out. But POW looks like he's in a hospital, so Black Manta may be facing a weakened POW.. hope not. I'm starting to agree with some of the posters here who say that Aquaman should be double shipped.. 4 freakin' weeks is too long!

I found the first 6 issues or so of Aquaman to be fairly pedestrian, overall.

Finally, with this current arc, Aquaman has kicked into gear and is living up to the potential I thought it had. Good stuff, so far. Looking forward to seeing what Johns/Reis have in store next.

I did like Kahina The Seer, who seemed to be an interesting character. My only gripe with her is the accuracy of her name and such. Kahina is not an Iranian name. I looked the name up, assuming it might be an Arab name, so there's the possibility of religious muslim Iranians having named their daughters such.......Apparently, it means "soothsayer" or "prophetess" in Arabic, and seems to be a name predominantly used by Algerians. There was a pre-Islamic Algerian queen commonly referred to as Kahina, who battled the Romans, Arabs (During Islamic conquest of Algeria), etc.....She's rumored to have been Jewish. With the history of the name, one would assume a religious muslim Iranian wouldn't name their daughter such, unless it wasn't her real name but simply what she went by (Although "Soothsayer The Seer" doesn't make much sense). I've certainly never heard of an Iranian female named Kahina, but anything's possible, I guess.......The name just seems a bit inaccurate, but whatever.

And I'll sheepishly admit it.....Ya'Wara makes me want to go the A-ha route.

So, I was wondering, does Ya'Wara get cold at all?

Oh, come on, folks--let's all just say it: Ya'Wara's costume is total fan service.
    Well, fanboy service.
Um, ok--total straight fanboy service, heh.
