    That's a bloody good point

I really hope Brian Woods is going to deliver on that opening gambit as it's what got me hooked on this series!

Look forward to seeing him pull it off

I'm guessing it will just be a case of Reeds Richards involment with the people is kept from the public so he doesn't really become infamous or classed as a terrorist in the public eye (probably just treat it like a hostile alien attack or something as far as the public are concerned?) where Kitty will be very much in the public eye with her uprise.

I do hope we see Danvers again

judging by the poll results this looks like it might be the most popular single issue from the Ultimate Universe ever.

It does look that way, yes. lol. But I still prefer the issue where Thor locked Modi in the room with no doors, Loki fought alongside Thor, Asgard fell and Tony caught Thor in mid-air. That was pure awesome.

    That was a stronger issue.

Aren't they making the Ultimate Universe to recognizable? How is this going to affect Miles in Ultimate Spider-Man? I don't see how the world can return from this.

    That said, wow, ballsy.

Did the world ever return to normal after Ultimatum? not really. America was going to end sooner or later anyways but for once they actually lose and I am kind of happy. I doubt it will have any impact on Miles he has already been through Ultimatum.

I think the point is that the upheavals of Ultimatum took some characters off the board, but that the world remained recognizable afterward. The recent developments in Hickman's run change the global balance of power, remove entire countries from the map, and pave the way for social change at a virtually unbounded rate. The chance for the background world to behave more or less like the world we know has gone out the window in a way that it didn't in Ultimatum...unless of course they find a way to hit the reset button despite everything. Maybe the Children slaughter the People and then the City launches itself into space. That would work.

As for USM and Ultimates, I have no problem with the thought that the books will sheer away from each other to a degree. Spider-Man has always been a relatively self-contained figure within the Ultimate world.

I moved a fair amount of posts to a more appropriate thread (posts about Hickman vs Loeb vs Millar, in particular their use of female characters).

    Carry on.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!

I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others

The conversation between Loki and Thor in that issue is probably the most brilliant moment in Ultimates history.

Character redemption in 4 line or less. Brilliant.

Plawsky, have your feelings changed on Doomsday's ending in the wake of what Hickman's done with Reed since? When it came out, you were quite vocal about your disappointment with the series not giving us the epic conclusion you were looking for and/or how you felt like a perceived plot trajectory change midway through really hurt the series.

I think that it's pretty clear Bendis probably reworked his ending, maybe even at Hickman's request, to accommodate Reed being used again when he saw what was coming down the pipes, so rather than mind-blowing finale we got an ominous "he'll be back." Just wondering if viewing it as part of a whole changes your opinion or anything.
Marriage Era Spidey bashers are shameful opportunists (Like you REALLY didn't enjoy a single Spidey comic in 20 years)
Conversely, BND haters REALLY need to get over their continuity elitism already

I know that this is addressed for Plawsky but I found this an interesting post. I don't think Hickman's great work on Ultimates doesn't justify Bendis's "okay" work on Doomsday. Reed being a villain felt very forced to me back then, but it has worked out very well in Hickman's hands.

I look at it like this, just because I've seen Mags and Prof X in Ultimate X-Men and loved it, doesn't mean I think Ultimatum is better now.

More the merrier, man ;). If I recall correctly, Plawsky never had a problem with Reed as the villain. Nor did I, so when I asked the question it really had no bearing on HOW Bendis brought Reed over to the dark side. Personally, I thought that what Bendis did with the character was innovative, provocative... And extremely entertaining :).

I like Reed as a villain don't get me wrong. I just felt the transition from hero to villain was done poorly. It was unique and something fresh for sure though.
