The thing vs Namor one was pure bullcrap. I can see the Iron man one almost working since the reason Magneto lost is due to being horrified when he felt exactly what the phoenix was doing. Until then it was just Tony Stark trying to prevent Magneto from being able to instantly kill him. Magneto was always the superior one in that fight. How exactly does one make high grade magnets though? It makes me think they're supposed to be put in a spliff or bong.

That's what I'm thinking, too. None of these fights went in the direction you'd expect, it's like the writers just wanted to subvert reader expectations. No one would expect Gambit to pull a win out over Cap, and they'll have to give *some* of the fights to the X-Men, so I think it's very possible Gambit might win next issue.

For the record though, I thought this issue was complete crap. Looking at the future matches, I'm definitely not gonna buy any of these. Magik vs Black widow because... they're both Russian? Seriously, how does a gun stand up to someone with Magik's power? :|

I enjoyed this but Magneto should have killed Iron Man. Mags takes down entire teams, Tony Stark should have been no contest. Also, Tony beat Emma Frost AND Iron Man--two of the Extinction Team members? That's insulting. Namor getting beat was fine but can he seriously not control sea life? How ridiculous of him not to be able to.
