Other than that piece of shit Unit once again trolling the lovely Danger, this issue was amazing. Colossus was willing to take a beating to protect Utopia, how noble.

    Sorry, I gotta disagree.

Petey goes demon: "I disappear for a while."

Hope does her best impersonation of Johnny Storm and cuts out. Next page...

Petey says: "The first thing I feel as I come back is enjoying how the cartilage in his nose slides beneath my knuckles."

I was referring to him being being "back" from the demon Cyttorak mode that apparently took him over for a little while. Hence the reason why Petey stopped attacking to see what Rulk was laughing and gesturing at.

Petey didn't need to lose/sacrifice/whatever. I just read KG's answer to this debate over at Formspring. While I respect his decision and what others have stated, it doesn't mean I have to agree. I'll accept it and move on knowing the hope of character development for Petey has not and will not happen in UXM. Like others have said, Petey is a one dimensional shell. No wonder so many people dislike the character. The writers make him emo.

I pray the Wood understands. <---some will get that.

Funny that Gillen isn't even one of the ''architects' yet managed to accurately portray what happened in AVX with his tie in, yet others WHO SHAN'T BE NAMED contradicted themselves even though they're writing the fucking thing.

This issue was amazingly good. That was the most I've enjoyed a comic in a long time.

I totally agree. Gillen is such a talented writer; I also feel this is Gillen's best issue of Uncanny yet. I love the way he uses first and even third person narration to tell the story and give the characters a voice and some insight into their thought process and motivation. You rarely see comics written that intelligently and thoroughly anymore, and it's such a huge improvement over Fraction's juvenile and trite "Namor. King of Atlantis. Likes to make waves." type of drivel. Uncanny hasn't been this good since Claremont's first run.

From my question to Kieron Gillen on Formspring:

    KieronGillen

Is there a significance why Scott Summers' signature appears in the first letter to humanity in issue 1 but issue 11 has Cyclops written.

"Signing one with his human name and one with his mutant name is certainly something to note."

Now while I can appreciate the letter itself as a sound tactical move on Cyke's part to attempt to hurt the Avengers reputation so as not face backlash for being involved in this kind of fight; and assume the above example is just part of the P.R battlefront talk, I think Avengers Vs. X-Men should have been kept as a fight between the two teams only. The Avengers are not mentioned by name, the letter refers to them as agents of the US government. This declaration of war against the United States is something new Uncanny has bought to the table. Instead a case can and should be made that the current extinction that mutantkind faces is the direct result of the actions on an Avenger. Issue 1 of AvX has Cyke saying it wasn't natural what happened to mutantkind, House of M had two alternate unnatural timelines, they just happened to stick with the second one. This means a major reality (manipulating) shift is owed to the X-Men and since the Scarlet Witch can't oblige the Phoenix has to be it ("Power. True Power", again from AvX 1). This is why in my opinion Cyke has had such a wild character arc these last few years, he is on some level been fighting this unnatural reality which everyone has come to accept as the norm hence all this out of character accusations and other name calling like fanatic and dictator (having read ALL the pages of this thread I use the word nervously). Anyway this is just my long round about way of saying: Cyclops' declaration of war should be against the Avengers and them alone.

Fraction was being completely ironic with his captions. Please tell me you weren't taking them at face value?!

Oh, I believe she'll turn the tables on him eventually. After all, he's already unhappy with her lack of manners towards him. Guess his hold on her isn't as effective as he likes to think it is.

LOL, ya know?!? Not only did he clearly not read the issue, but even if he was just looking at the pictures, it clearly shows Colossus' eyes full of anger, rage and hate in one panel as he was beating Rulk down and about to enjoy delivering the killing blow, and then his eyes show sadness, shame and remorse in the very next panel as he realizes finishing Rulk off would mean risking all of Utopia. That is clearly the turning point when Colossus snatches off the helmet, powers down, and allows Rulk to win for the greater good of Utopia.

LOL, dude just lacks comprehension skills all around, apparently.

That was exactly the problem with Fraction's writing: too much irony and snark and not enough character depth and natural/unforced dialogue. And like I said, cute little irony-filled captions throughout every issue instead of actual story telling was pretty damn juvenile, weak and trite.

Pixie Solanas has taken the lost cause of defending Fraction's run upon himself. I skim over it.

There was no powering down until Colossus was knocked unconscious. Simply tearing the demonic helmet off in no way negates Cyttorak's influence. The evidence behind my claim are the panels of the comic book itself. If you would all open your copies of Uncanny X-men #11 to page 20 you would clearly see that when Colossus yells "harder" the Cyttorak runes are still visible on his neck and shoulders. In the next frame you can see the Cyttorak spikes still present along Colossus' back and the Cyttorak claws at the ends of his fingers. Colossus doesn't turn back into his plain metallic form until knocked unconscious. This is how the story was depicted in the comic. Any refusal to accept this is ignoring the evidence on the page in front of you in favour of the narrative you have made up in your head. It's not the reality of the situation.
