I enjoyed Star Trek quite a bit, so this is good news for me.
Hope ASM lives up to my expectations.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!
They hired writers for the sequel before the first movie came out.
That's confidence.
Nothing's gonna happen without a warning
I understand why they do it. While the characters are timeless, the actors and crew age and get other responsibilities and projects to work on.
I don't expect the movie to do as good as the original trilogy though, but hopefully it's does well enough to at least turn a profit.

Ugh, Star Trek is great, but the worst thing about is that screenplay, with its awful villain and faaaaar too many plot contrivances, even for a Trek film. That movie works because of the amazing cast and JJ Abrams. Without that, you get Transformers.
Let's hope ASM is the more of the former instead of the latter.
Reading some of the other works under their belt does draw pause.
This is only the second pass at the script though. I expect at least one more by someone else.

"...the parents’ story, which will unfold over probably a few movies," Webb said. "We don’t totally wrap up that story in this first movie. It’s sort of an ongoing mystery. That was something that was interesting to me."
...and probably ONLY you. This is supposed to be a movie about Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Instead, we are getting a franchise based on his dead parents. Elk shit.
I Dig: Hawkeye, Hank Pym, Squirrel Girl, Moon Knight, Songbird, Wiccan, Pixie, the Underbolts and Avengers Academy (RIP Stature)
I heard Paul Feig wrote some of the high school stuff from Amazing Spider-Man.
Orci and Kautzman didn't really write the last two Transformers. It was mainly Ethen Kruger. Their original plotline for ROTF involved a sort of Decepticon civil war, and not a lot of that remains in the finished film. They also didn't create the twins. Plus DOTM was all Kruger.
As for the choice of Orci and Kurtzman, their type of writing may not really fit Star Trek (Which, even in the more-action oriented films and TV series, is often a more cerebral franchise) but their corny dialogue and bad science plots might fit a comic-book movie better. Just saying.

A woman can move a lot faster with her skirt up than a man can with his pants down.
Those guys are horrible.
