My favourite was Kesel's Superboy, it was the character that got me into comics.

I loved his origin of being Cadmus' attempt to reverse engineer a Kryptonian after they couldn't directly clone Superman.
I loved how Superman gave him his name and how they tied it into Kryptonian history.

That costume worked better without the jacket like it was regularly drawn in Young Justice.

Although his first costume was still great.

To be honest, I voted for the DCnU version since that's the only one I really know more. Other than his introduction, I've no history with Kesel's and wasn't a fan.

The kesel one brought me running to the LCS every month,could not wait to read it,it was always fun.the geoff version was more iconic building to me than fun.the nuSB has a lot of potential,i cant wait forneachbissue to come out.after the culling crossover kon will be trying the real life thing out,should be fun.

Kessel's Superboy is the definitive Kon-El, in my mind, and favorite all-around Superboy (I just wasn't around when the Clark Kent Superboy was in existence). Which is why I love that with each passing issue since the reboot, Kon's personality is becoming more and more like the Kid.

Johns Teen Titans is partially what got me into reading periodical comics and that version of the Teen Titans and Superboy is a particular favorite of mine. And I much prefer the T-Shirt and pants look over his other costumes.

Hey, that was a fun story, accentuated by fantastic art from Bob Brown and Murphy Anderson. And Clark actually made a friend whose name wasn't Lana or Pete. Cool story. Early 1970s Superboy stories are still my favorites from among all the Kal-El Superboy stories.

Not to mention that was the first appearance of Wildfire (aka ERG-1) in the back-up Legion story--just two issues before the Legion took over the series. Cary Bates and Dave Cockrum on art. Great art all around in both the Superboy and Legion stories from those days.

I'm giving the nod to Clark as well. Much as I've loved Kon-El from his debut in Adventures of Superman #500 (I'm even liking the current incarnation, if not as much), I'll still give the nod to the boy who'd become Superman some day (pre-Crisis, anyhow).

Also, you really ought to include the TV Superboy here. He also had his own comic book series (22 issues + 1 special) in addition to 100 television episodes. That's where Scott Lobdell actually first wrote a Superboy comic book!

I personal consider Superboy from both Kesel's and Johns' runs as the same character from the same continuity. That's just my opinion.

But if you did that, you'd probably need to include the Superboy from Earth-Prime . . . the version from back in Crisis on Infinite Earths,


before Geoff Johns turned him into a selfish, whining wacko for Infinite Crisis.
